Story
New England, 2022. Three years ago, single mother Mallory Dunne received the telephone call every parent dreads—her ten-year-old son, Sam, had been airlifted from summer camp with acute poisoning from a toxic death cap mushroom, leaving him fighting for his life. Now, searching for the donor kidney that will give her son a chance for a normal life, Mallory’s forced to confront two harrowing secrets from her past: her mother’s adoption from an infamous Irish orphanage in 1952, and her own all-consuming summer romance fourteen years earlier with her childhood best friend, Monk Adams.

A new favorite! I don’t often dread the ending of a book but I didn’t want this one to end. I will admit I was almost scared off at the very beginning, afraid of something tragic with the child. Since this is my favorite author ever though, I didn’t give up and am now very grateful! Narration is awesome too, I don’t usually appreciate how much they add to the story but these were remarkable. Big time recommend!

This was my first by Julia Klassan, I went on to listen/read three more books in a row by her. The whole thing is wildly enjoyable and fun to read. The author somehow manages a ‘slow burn’ romance whilst maintaining an entirely G-rated book. There is a religious undertone to her stories but have no fear, it’s written in tastefully and relatable …not unexpectedly shoved down your throat like some others.. Absolutely worth the read!!!

Story
Persuasion, Jane Austen's last novel, is a tale of love and marriage told with irony and insight. Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth have met and seperated years before. Their reunion, after the passage or irrecoverable years of their youth, forces a recognition of the false values that drove them apart.

Story
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

This was premium historical fiction and will be the basis for all my future reviews of the genre. I just can’t believe I waited so long to be introduced. Downloading her entire collection immediately!

I greatly appreciate the author’s time and effort put into the research of this book. I know it’s good when I stop the story and google places or events, which I did several times throughout this gem. The last few chapters really made the pieces of the story come together for a delightfully satisfying end. I certainly recommend this, particularly for anyone who regularly reads historical fiction novels 📚

I’d highly recommend giving this audiobook a listen! The story is completely captivating, the narrator perfect, and the backdrop well researched. The author seemingly made an effort to ensure accuracy in describing the rise of cosmetics in the 20th century… which I of course looked up intermittently as inspired by the book. Overall just a great, thought provoking book that gets better and better as you go 👍

I read a lot of ‘excellent’ reviews before giving this a try, I can definitely understand the overwhelming positive response from listeners.. Surprisingly in-depth narrative, careful character development, and an fresh take on a frequently reimagined time in history.
As far as the intimate scenes I did just fast forward through many. They felt like a forced addition without adding value to the story.. Sometimes these scenes can be an opportunity to really bring the audience into the described moment and feel the character’s experiences.. but I didn’t so much
I understand this book is compromised of a collection of series, which I think flowed together seamlessly. As other reviewers noted I felt the book ended abruptly! I was definitely left wanting to know more information about how events turned out for everyone.. the ending felt as though the author just stopped writing and left the unsuspecting reader with an assumed conclusion to the plot
Overall a really good book though!! I absolutely recommend giving the Gin Lovers a chance!!

I have exactly 5 hours and 10 minutes to get from Boston to New York City or the professional opportunity of a lifetime disappears. My only travel option? The second to last seat on a discount bus. Across from the bathroom. Wearing last night’s clothes (don’t ask). All worth it if I can make it in time.

Please try this little gem! I almost gave up listening when I realized this was not a standard format book. I am so glad I had to finish a task and unable to switch titles. Without the length of explanation surrounding the dialogue the storyline was capable of full development in five hours.. which was part of my initial hesitation!!!
