Story
Three low-income families have been given a handsome retainer to join Geraldine Borden for a day at her cliffside estate. All the parents must do to collect the rest of their money is allow their children to test out the revolutionary playground equipment Geraldine has been working on for decades. But there’s a reason the structures in the bowels of her gothic castle have taken so long to develop—they were never meant to see the light of day.

Loved this one! Geraldines story was my favorite part of the book it was so sick! I wish there was a whole book just about her, I kept stopping work to stand still and listen it was captivating, appalling, & gross.

Story
Fourteen-year-old Carey and six-year-old Jenessa have been living in the woods with their mother for as long as they can remember; the sheltering trees and a broken-down camper are all they know. But what they’ve never been told is that Carey vanished from the real world ten years ago, when their mother took her, causing an uproar in the media - and in her father’s life.

The ending makes it all worth it

It took a chapter or two to get used to the accent especially being from the south myself and knowing it’s so forced. And some parts the story felt drawn out but the attachment you get to the characters/character development is steady throughout.
Still, I really enjoyed this book. I was sobbing in the last few chapters so maybe I’m just a softie. Yes like other reviews stated- some parts are unrealistic (like a preteen using a shotgun regularly for hunting especially small animals) but that’s whatever and can be overlooked.

Realistic future of sex dolls
Reviewed: 02-17-23
Contains spoilers:
The incel talk was pretty realistic, Reddit can be a cesspool and the men on ~certain~ subreddits absolutely say these types of things and think women "we" them sex or relationships for basically existing.
Even the doxing of the sex worker was realistic. It was however just a bit confusing around the emailing section and when the non-human girl was dismembered. Had to rewind to get it straight.
Overall i enjoyed it!

It says it’s based on a true story but so much feels off

The majority of the book is just describing rapes but leaves out so much of her life inside the house. And so much doesn’t add up. For example she describes how excited she is to bathe like a year after she’d been kidnapped, had she not been able to wash herself in any way? Why was her grandpa at home while the grandmas wake is happening at the church with the whole family there? Why didn’t the other woman who escaped send police? Wouldn’t the obgyn have noticed the trauma scars all over her genitals and ask about it? Oh my goodness freaking JAMIE shows up out of nowhere at the end IN UNIFORM just tada “its been a decade and I still love my 2 date girlfriend from 15, let’s move in together”

Started slow and kicked up to a thousand about halfway through. Had to pause and walk away a few times but overall the detail and gruesome scene were pretty horrific. It’s just the ending that I’m not too fond of, it’s kinda goofy with the TYG explanation
