Story
Winter break in England is not turning out as relaxing as I’d hoped. I’m a 17-year-old kid, walking down a deserted road in the middle of the night in a foreign country. All alone, except for a friend who is haunted, possessed, and prone to panic attacks. I really ought to have kept up better with my magical training.

A catch-up visit with cool young magician

I loved that we got to see the MC hangout with her best friend, even though they’re on vacation with her mom when ghost drama pops up. The story was a great follow up to the full novel Ghost of Bliss Bayou which I also recommend if you like light paranormal YA fiction.

Story
The gods are dying. Thane has served his goddess for thousands of lifetimes, but even he knows that time is running out. There's only one way to save her, to save all of Dweller kind, and it's a suicide mission. The host is a boy named Jakob. His ancient soul is one of the rare sources of power still recycling in the world of flesh. Thane has taken so many souls to his goddess, but this one could save them all. It's only when Thane learns the truth of the gods does he deny them their power. Souls aren't recycled. They're destroyed, and his goddess isn't a deity...she's a monster.

Story
For 16-year old Abigail Renshaw, the terrifying nightmares are not the worst part. When apparitions start leaking out of the nightmares into her waking life - well, that's a problem. But Abby's dealt with hallucinations before, and she's nothing if not resilient. Following clues from the nightmares, she convinces her mother to let her visit Harmony Springs, the small town in Florida where Abby was born, and where her grandmother still lives. There, Abby finds unexpected help from new friends: a compulsive teenage blogger named Molly Quick, and Molly's older brother Ray-Ray.

Teen/Young Adult Paranormal Mystery
Reviewed: 10-18-19
The Ghosts of Bliss Bayou was an entertaining and enjoyable paranormal teen/young adult audiobook. The characters had depth—I especially liked the realistic heroine, and I appreciated that magic was well explained. The quick pacing of the story was great. I’m looking forward to reading more of this series.
I did at times increase the playback speed to 1.25x because of the narrator’s speech pattern, but she did an adequate job.
I received this audiobook for free in exchange for an honest fair review.

Lack of setting

This book takes place in Australia, but you wouldn’t know it. The author never establishes where the story happens, and the narrator uses an American dialect. At least I picked up on the different word usage “car park” instead of “parking lot,” for example. DNF

Stacey "Strawberry Top" Fields is home again in small town Willowbrook, TN. It's fun to be home with friends and family, but even quiet, little towns have problems. Secrets and lies make people do desperate things - small towns just hide them better. When someone steals Grammy's precious family recipe book, Stacey must track it down or never hear the end of it.

A Deliciously Light-Hearted Mystery
Reviewed: 12-07-17
I overall enjoyed the light tone of this short mystery. I only wish that the story focused more on solving the mystery, and less on the superfluous goings-on of extraneous characters. I'm just glad that the focus wasn't entirely on the main character's relationship/marital status. I thought the cooking aspect was a plus.
I'm from Alabama, and the narrator did a reasonably good southern accent.
