Story
Bill Bryson has been an enormously popular author both for his travel books and for his books on the English language. Now, this beloved comic genius turns his attention to science. Although he doesn't know anything about the subject (at first), he is eager to learn, and takes information that he gets from the world's leading experts and explains it to us in a way that makes it exciting and relevant.

I never knew that I wanted to know about all the things that are in this book. It offers a very wide array of knowledge about an inch deep that makes you want to dig deeper. Very well narrated but I was able to easily understand at 1.5 speed. Highly recommend this book to anyone that is curious in general about how things work.

Not exactly what I was expecting

Having watched and listened to a lot of nerdist content, I gave this book a try. I found out quickly that this is a typical self help book about building confidence while at the same time pandering to the average nerd. There is nothing particularly revolutionary or entertaining unless you enjoy the empty references to modern media sprinkled throughout. That may help hold some people's attention, but it didn't work for me.

Story
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Loved it

I enjoy all of Brandon Sanderson's stories but The Stormlight Chronicle is by far my favorite series. The author does a fantastic job providing just enough backstory to feel like you understand the protagonist and his motives while still leaving room for evolution. The world building is some of the best I have ever read. Sanderson manages to build a intriguing dynamic world without having to explain much. I highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a semi-dark fantasy story.
