Story
Toni Murphy was eighteen when she and her boyfriend, Ryan, were wrongly convicted of the murder of her younger sister. Now she is thirty-four and back in her hometown, working every day to forge and adjust to a new life on the outside. She's doing everything in her power to avoid violating her parole and going back to prison. But nothing is making that easy – not Ryan, who is convinced he can figure out the truth; not her mother, who clearly doubts Toni's innocence; and certainly not the group of women who made Toni's life miserable in high school.

Absolutely Gripping, Frustrating and Genius
Reviewed: 03-12-18
This book was torturous; in an absolutely brilliant way. The book flipping back and forth, from present to past, not only holds your interest but makes you listen for hours on end. You can't help but put yourself in the shoes of the main character, feeling not only pain but utter frustration in being accused for something you didn't do. As you listen, you are held just as captive as the main character was in prison and you can't help but feel as caught up as she was in the lies and frustration. I could literally feel my blood pressure rising during moments of the performance.
You are doing yourself a disservice but not purchasing. After reading the other comments I did pick up on the narrator's nasally voice, however, I feel it would not have been that apparent if I wasn't already prepared for it. In a way, her voice fits the character and I can hear her as the teenage she portrays. (The voice of the narrator was the only reason I gave 3 stars for the performance, but she did do an excellent job expressing the emotions of all characters mentioned in the book - don't let this stop you from listening. The book was truly fantastic, and I'll definitely listen again. )

Story
Three minutes. That's all it takes for Meredith's entire world to fall apart when she watches the videotape of her four-year-old self with Becca, the mother she's never known. Can there be any truth in the strange and dangerous story her mother forced her to tell on camera? The search for answers leads Meredith to Darkwater Pool, the scene of the murder of a young woman, Cara, over 30 years ago. What could possibly be the link between her mother and the victim? The problem is, she's not the only one looking....

Good Storyline, But Didn't Live Up To The Hype
Reviewed: 03-06-18
This book is listed under psychological thrillers and I thought that's exactly what it would be based on all of the rave reviews, however, I would be lying if I said I wasn't at least a bit disappointed in the story line. As far as a novel goes, it is good, but I'm not sure if I would classify this as a psychological thriller. I found myself waiting for the end, for all the loose ends to be tied up and I was waiting for an epic twist or a major bomb to drop and I just didn't get that. Everything wrapped up nicely, but I was hoping to be wowed. I wanted to finish reading and think, OH MY GOSH, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!, but it sort of just ended. After listening to Gone Girl, I have trouble comparing the two. It was a bit timid for my taste in thrillers.

Martin Stillwater has a vivid imagination. It charms his loving wife, delights his two little daughters, and gives him all the inspiration he needs to write his highly successful mystery novels. But maybe Martin’s imagination is a bit too vivid.

A bit far fetched
Reviewed: 02-24-18
This novel started out with a lot of promise. The story line was intriguing seeing it from multiple points of view. However, where I had a bit of an issue was the stretch before the end. I felt that I was just wishing for a conclusion sooner than it came. I'm not so sure I would say this was a psychological thriller, I would classify it more as a sci fi kind of story. Wasn't a bad novel by any means, I would have given it a better rating, however this just wasn't exactly what I thought it would be. The story line and conclusion was a bit out there and far fetched.

Story
Anna Fox lives alone - a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times...and spying on her neighbors. Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, mother, their teenaged son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn't, her world begins to crumble. And its shocking secrets are laid bare.

Twists are an UNDERSTATEMENT

If you are a psychological thriller fanatic, then you need to read this novel! I finished listening to this book within only a few days because I couldn't stop listening. My suggestion, don't even try to take a guess as to what's happening because I guarantee your guess will be incorrect. As someone studying psychology, I found this novel to be a fascinating window into the workings of the mind.
