Outstanding Story

I have listened to 3 Rutherford historical novels Paris is my favorite. Love how he weaves history with fictional families. This one totally captured my desire to know more about Paris as well as what happened next with the families.

Story
Chief Inspector Armand Gamache of the Surêté du Québec and his team of investigators are called in to the scene of a suspicious death in a rural village south of Montreal. Jane Neal, a local fixture in the tiny hamlet of Three Pines, just north of the U.S. border, has been found dead in the woods. The locals are certain it’s a tragic hunting accident and nothing more, but Gamache smells something foul in these remote woods, and is soon certain that Jane Neal died at the hands of someone much more sinister than a careless bowhunter.

Great writing story too complicated for casual listening.

Author did a great job with character development that was for me cumbersome. She is obviously a talented author but this one did not grab me.

Story
Creole Belle begins where the last book in the Dave Robicheaux series, The Glass Rainbow, ended. Dave is in a recovery unit in New Orleans, where a Creole girl named Tee Jolie Melton visits him and leaves him an iPod with the country blues song “Creole Belle” on it. Then she disappears. Dave becomes obsessed with the song and the memory of Tee Jolie and goes in search of her sister, who later turns up inside a block of ice floating in the Gulf.

Where does Creole Belle rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
James Lee Burke and Will Patton always ranks among my favorite listening. Creole Belle was no different. There are many good authors and readers but these two and this story is very close to the top.
