Story
Three-quarters of Americans believe that a group of unelected government and military officials secretly manipulate or direct national policy in the United States. This sweeping exploration examines the CIA and FBI scandals of the past 50 years - from the Church Committee's exposure of Cold War abuses, to Abscam, to false intelligence about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, to NSA mass surveillance revealed by Edward Snowden. It then investigates the claims and counterclaims of the Trump era, and the relentless spread of conspiracy theories online and on-air.

Susan Page has provided the texture of the Speaker’s life and significant accomplishments under incredibly adverse circumstances. When you consider the ‘hundreds of millions of dollars’ spent by Republicans and their donors to vilify her over the years. She is a most admirable public servant and Ms. Page captures her full picture. Great book!

When a box from her mother showed up on Katy Tur’s doorstep, months into the pandemic and just as she learned she was pregnant with her second child, she didn’t know what to expect. The box contained thousands of hours of video—the work of her pioneering helicopter journalist parents. They grew rich and famous for their aerial coverage of Madonna and Sean Penn’s secret wedding, the Reginald Denny beating in the 1992 Los Angeles riots, and O.J. Simpson’s notorious run in the white Bronco.

Your book on Audible is extra-ordinary on many levels.
I have wondered, like many, who have observed your NBC/MSNBC interviews, what informs her incisive, fearless questioning?
Well, your ability to transform your acutely painful personal story into your unrelenting journalism is ‘extra-ordinary’.
This is one of those books, read by THE author, which provides courageously searing and self-revealing insights. Truly extraordinary.
Your willingness to share your experiences, I suspect, will allow others to heal, from their own cringeworthy experiences.
Your journalism exemplifies a speak ‘Truth to Power’ commitment by questioning your subjects as part of your training early-in-your-life.
You’ve transformed it powerfully.
Thank you. Gotta hear this book!!!

This is the authoritative, “deeply reported” (The Wall Street Journal) account of an eighteen-month crisis in American democracy that will be seared into the country’s political memory for decades to come. With stunning, in-the-room detail, New York Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns show how both our political parties confronted a series of national traumas, including the coronavirus pandemic, the January 6 attack on the Capitol, and the political brinksmanship of President Biden’s first year in the White House.

Martin and Burns have joined the current ranks of journalists who are documenting the undeniable assault by Bannon/Trump to “deconstruct the Administrative State”. First time I heard that phrase, I didn’t understand. Five years later, we need to fully grasp that this is not an historical debate about taxes; foreign/domestic policy……not about ‘Left and Right’; but rather fact-based realities and Truthfulness and self-serving, fear-based grievances based on mistruths (we used to call them “Lies”). Story
In the years leading up to the election of Donald Trump, Congressman Adam Schiff had already been sounding the alarm over the resurgence of autocracy around the world, and the threat this posed to the United States. But as he led the probe into Donald Trump’s abuses of presidential power, Schiff came to the terrible conclusion that the principal threat to American democracy now came from within. In Midnight in Washington, Schiff argues that the Trump presidency has so weakened our institutions and compromised the Republican Party that the peril will last for years.
