Mickey Gibson, single mother and former detective, leads a hectic life similar to that of many moms: juggling the demands of her two small children with the tasks of her job working remotely for ProEye, a global investigation company that hunts down wealthy tax and credit cheats. When Mickey gets a call from a colleague named Arlene Robinson, she thinks nothing of Arlene’s unusual request for her to go inventory the vacant home of an arms dealer who cheated ProEye’s clients and fled.

It is a good story, although I think the ending is a little flawed but I don’t want to say too much and spoil ending for anyone.

Fifty years later, Agent Pendergast takes on a bizarre and gruesome case: in the ghost-haunted city of Savannah, Georgia, bodies are found with no blood left in their veins—sowing panic and reviving whispered tales of the infamous Savannah Vampire.

Deeply miss Rene Auberjonois (RIP); New narrator made it unbearable
Reviewed: 08-24-21
The story itself was not bad but the new narrator made it unbearable. I understand its likely impossible to replace the late Rene Auberjonois but I do not see WIlliam DeMerritt being hte voice of this series going forward. I can think of many other books I have listened to that he would fit perfectly in but just n it as Pendergast. I even think he was good in the other characters within this book, but again, not Pendergast. Then they randomly decided to throw in some low volume sounds in the back ground in a few points of the book. Half the time I could not really tell if it was Pendergast speaking because I am so used to the normal voice that has done his character for the last 20 or so books.
Not to say the narrator is bad at doing audible books, but its just not Pendergast.

The lead is a teenaged girl who goes in search of her brother. Aliens have taken over the planet by invading our bodies. One such alien falls in love with a human and betrays his/her own species in order to help the humans.
The book is well written and the readers give a good performance I think.

Story
Bellamy Lyston was only 12 years old when her older sister Susan was killed on a stormy Memorial Day. Bellamy's fear of storms is a legacy of the tornado that destroyed the crime scene along with her memory of what really happened during the day's most devastating moments. Now, 18 years later, Bellamy has written a sensational, best-selling novel based on Susan's murder. Because the book was inspired by the tragic event that still pains her family, she published it under a pseudonym to protect them from unwanted publicity. But an opportunistic reporter for a tabloid newspaper discovers that the book is based on fact....

Good Story but sometimes annoying
Reviewed: 07-30-13
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Yes I would recommend it. The story was good and you get a few ideas of the "who dunnit" but you don't have any solid evidence until the end. I found myself going back and forth between 3 characters.
Any additional comments?
The writing at some points got kind of cheesy and I thought Dent was overly persistent and cannot imagine many if any guys being that persistent.
An example of cheesy:
Dent: That looks good on you.
Bellamy: Your shirt?
Dent: No debauchery.

Story
When 15-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder - much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing, not even a smear of blood, to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

Hints of Several Stories Rolled Into One
Reviewed: 05-03-13
What made the experience of listening to City of Bones the most enjoyable?
Its a good story and I enjoyed listening to it. I felt the narrator did a good job and the voice seemed to fit with the story so I think they did a good job of casting.
Any additional comments?
I could not help but think of several other movies and books as I progressed through this story. I haven't taken the time to think through which came first so its possible the other stories technically remind me of this one or vice-verse. But while progressing through this story I cannot help but think of story lines from Star Wars, Harry Potter, and others.

Annoying that they switched readers
Reviewed: 05-03-13
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Ed Westwick and Molly C. Quinn ?
Its somewhat annoying that they opted to change narrators for this book. The male voice is just odd to have a foreign accent overall. It just doesn't seem to fit. Its also annoying that the narrators (both male and female) pronounce things differently so it takes a while to figure out what they refer to at times. For instance how they pronounce Stele in comparison to the narrator from Books 1-3 is much different. Also the difference in pronouncing Maryse. It just gets annoying after a while.
Any additional comments?
Perhaps I've missed something but I also find it odd that Maia is unaware of the situation with Simon. As a werewolf she has better than normal smell so she would be able to detect what is going on.
But overall the book is very much what you would expect from this series and I found it enjoyable. Not as enjoyable as the first 3 books but still worth your time I think.

I used to work for the Telepath’s Guild before they kicked me out for a drug habit that wasn’t entirely my fault. Now I work for the cops, helping Homicide Detective Isabella Cherabino put killers behind bars. My ability to get inside the twisted minds of suspects makes me the best interrogator in the department. But the normals keep me on a short leash. When the Tech Wars ripped the world apart, the Guild stepped up to save it. But they had to get scary to do it - real scary.

Slow Starting

Any additional comments?
The book was a slow start but it picks up steam. The story is pretty good but I think it lacked some background information. Seems to me to elude to things and it makes me feel like I should've known some information so I often hit rewind thinking I missed something but I hadn't. Some of the narrator's voices get annoying. I think he had roughly 6 character voices and 2 of them annoyed me greatly.

Proud of the agency’s history and sure of its destiny, he was thrilled to be a part of its future—a bright era of far-reaching space exploration.
