Great Second installment to this series.

this was great. continues the world building and interesting interactions with the charactors. will be getting the 3rd book. My only conplaint is the narrator lacks range or emotion in parts that could really help the story.

Story
The second novel in the wildly popular First Law Trilogy from New York Times best seller Joe Abercrombie. Superior Glokta has a problem. How do you defend a city surrounded by enemies and riddled with traitors, when your allies can by no means be trusted, and your predecessor vanished without a trace? It's enough to make a torturer want to run - if he could even walk without a stick. Northmen have spilled over the border of Angland and are spreading fire and death across the frozen country. Crown Prince Ladisla is poised to drive them back and win undying glory.

Excited to start book 3

Yet again Abercrombie shows his writing flare with a distinct voice for each character. I have a hard time choosing a favorite as they are all brought to life so well. Steven Pacey definitely helped emphasize what was already there, I hope he had fun with the narration.

In the years since Lindon left Sacred Valley, he has attained power beyond anything his family thought possible. Now he’ll have to put those powers to the test, because a Dreadgod is on its way. Lindon and his allies set out to evacuate the valley before the arrival of the Wandering Titan, but their sacred arts are weakened by an ancient curse. They’ll have to persuade the squabbling inhabitants of Sacred Valley to leave behind their home and set off into the outside world. But it has been a long time since Lindon left, and more has changed than he realized.

Another excellent continuation

The performance from Travis Baldree should not be under appreciated. The many ranges of voices he can do make the work of Will Wight that much more immersive. I love the series and how much each character has grown in the series. My biggest gripe with it is now I have to wait for the next one. I will definitely be continuing this series whenever the next book is out.

This book was written so smoothly that I could understand what was going on from the start. it wasn't until much further in into the book that I realized it was a sequel. I still thoroughly enjoyed it and I am excited to see how events in the 1st book play out. Plus Yahtzee's narration is very captivating. No one can read out words exactly as the author intended other then the ones who wrote it themselves. Highly recommend if you've read the first or even if you haven't.

Story
“Long live the King” hailed Entertainment Weekly upon publication of Stephen King’s On Writing. Part memoir, part master class by one of the bestselling authors of all time, this superb volume is a revealing and practical view of the writer’s craft, comprising the basic tools of the trade every writer must have. King’s advice is grounded in his vivid memories from childhood through his emergence as a writer, from his struggling early career to his widely reported, near-fatal accident in 1999—and how the inextricable link between writing and living spurred his recovery.

As someone who wishes to write and has started to recently this book was a great listen. Better if everything else in the book gets said in it my words can't do it justice.
