Story
The Bobiverse is a different place in the aftermath of the Starfleet War, and the days of the Bobs gathering in one big happy moot are far behind. There’s anti-Bob sentiment on multiple planets, the Skippies playing with an AI time bomb, and multiple Bobs just wanting to get away from it all. But it all pales compared to what Icarus and Daedalus discover on their 26,000-year journey to the center of the galaxy.

Story
All the matter and light we can see in the universe makes up a trivial five per cent of everything. The rest is hidden. This could be the biggest puzzle that science has ever faced. Since the 1970s, astronomers have been aware that galaxies have far too little matter in them to account for the way they spin around: they should fly apart, but something concealed holds them together. That ’something' is dark matter - invisible material in five times the quantity of the familiar stuff of stars and planets.

I’m glad this was a shorter book with good information to absorb quickly. Plus the stories of the history behind the topic of dark matter were fun and told with a side of humor. The matter of fact narrator added to this aspect of the book.

Story
Inspired by her research for the hit podcast Ultra, Rachel Maddow charts the rise of a wild American strain of authoritarianism that has been alive on the far-right edge of our politics for the better part of a century. Before and even after our troops had begun fighting abroad in World War II, a clandestine network flooded the country with disinformation aimed at sapping the strength of the U.S. war effort and persuading Americans that our natural alliance was with the Axis, not against it.

With core buildings, professional fighters, and now their own dungeon, the settlement is primed to grow into a kingdom of true power and magic. The path to power has not been without risk, however. The MistVillage has been noticed. Evil nobles from the Kingdom of Law, bloodthirsty goblins from the Serrated Mountains, an undead lord with a penchant for human sacrifice, and fanatical kobolds from the Depths all plot the village's destruction.

This entire series is just amazing and awesome. The characters are so good and the performance is outstanding. Every book brings in pop culture in such a clever way without distracting from the fantasy realm. Each book continues the excitement and the desire to follow the characters more. Listen to this series! It’s sooo good!

What's that you say? You want more village growth? Well be careful where you stand, because the Mist Village just took a Viagra-Cialis sandwich, and there is a stiff breeze blowing! (I can make some more references if you're still not getting the point...did you see what I did there?)

Story
Everything we now know about the universe - from the behavior of quarks to the birth of galaxies - has come from people who've been willing to ponder the unanswerable. And with the advent of modern science, great minds have turned to testing and experimentation rather than mere thought as a way of grappling with some of the universe's most vexing dilemmas. So what is our latest picture of some of the most inexplicable features of the universe? What still remains to be uncovered and explored by today's scientists?

If you’re new to physics this is a fun dive into some deep subjects without having to understand any math. This is especially fitting since Dr Tyson just did a Star Talk episode yesterday with Brian Greene. I would follow up this course with Death by Black Hole if you want to hear the expanded explanations of many of the topics in this course and then track down the Star Talk episode called Cosmic Queries: Until the End of Time.

Story
Deep below the University, there is a dark place. Few people know of it: a broken web of ancient passageways and abandoned rooms. A young woman lives there, tucked among the sprawling tunnels of the Underthing, snug in the heart of this forgotten place. Her name is Auri, and she is full of mysteries. The Slow Regard of Silent Things is a brief, bittersweet glimpse of Auri’s life, a small adventure all her own. At once joyous and haunting, this story offers a chance to see the world through Auri’s eyes.

Amazing! Auri is a great character
Reviewed: 06-15-22
It took me for ever to finally get through In the Name of the Wind after it sat on my bookshelf for, literally, a decade. (I bought it in 2012 the day after a recommendation to read it.) I was always fascinated by Audi’s character. I usually am curious of the stories about the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern characters of stories and finding out the magic behind their experiences. This book gives some insight into Audi’s mindset and world. It begs for a full story about her life and training and a deeper insight into how she arrived at where she is. I am now waiting for that story. This story only spans a week of her life but it is enlightening. I have many theories about her abilities and training but there are no answers. That will be for a later story. And I haven’t searched out any feedback or fan theories on this. I don’t want to. I want my picture of Auri to unfold within the story. I did take the advance of the chronology of the stories and listened to this story at around chapter 28 of The Wise Man’s Fears. I think that kept everything fresh in my mind since this week happens between chapter 11 and chapter 20. It was always a nice touch to hear the author narrate his own book. He has a good presentation and an easy voice to listen to. This is a wonderful exploration into a fascinating character.

Story
At the heart of a bizarre planet lay the goal of every being that had ever lived.… Below average in height and unprepossessing in appearance, Nathan Brazil is an unassuming if cynical starship owner, carrying passengers and cargo for a living - hardly the sort of person to hold the fate of the entire universe in his hands. But when Nathan detours from his route to answer a distress call, a hidden stargate hurls him and his passengers to the Well World, the master control planet for the cosmos. Billions of years ago, a godlike race unlocked all the secrets of space and time and remade the universe according to their grand design.

Surprisingly good sci-fi. It’s difficult to figure out the direction of the story and how it is going to progress but it remained interesting and curious in its exploration of various worlds and civilizations. I think if it had not been intriguing I would have just questioned the path and seen the collecting of characters as just another fantasy story of some adventurers haphazardly encountering each other to join each other on a common journey. Although, I still think it followed that basic arc it was a good journey and a somewhat unique story bringing fantasy together with mythology and science fiction.

Excellent delivery by Ray Porter as with all the Bobiverse audio books. I find clever short stories in the science fiction realm intriguing and this short was definitely intriguing. It’s too bad it wasn’t longer but to lengthen it might diminish its impact. Excellent work!
