Story
Viv's career with the notorious mercenary company Rackam's Ravens isn't going as planned. Wounded during the hunt for a powerful necromancer, she's packed off against her will to recuperate in the sleepy beach town of Murk—so far from the action that she worries she'll never be able to return to it. What's a thwarted soldier of fortune to do? Spending her hours at a beleaguered bookshop in the company of its foul-mouthed proprietor is the last thing Viv would have predicted, but it may be both exactly what she needs and the seed of changes she couldn't possibly imagine.

Wish I could get my credit back

The narrator really bothers me. She’s almost monotone and her southern accent sounds fake. The story may have been good, but every time I open it up the listen I have to try and ignore the narrator’s voice. I’ve looked for how to return the audiobook like I used to be able to do but I can not. I may try to keep listening since I can’t exchange it, but please listen to a brief clip before using your credit.

Thoroughly Enjoyed

I really enjoyed these 10 books. The last book was slightly frustrating but that was part of the story and I believe she tied the story up nicely. Kinda sad there are no more Torrent Witch books. I enjoyed the characters, especially Adams.

Chapters out of order.

The story is good. It’s a little weird getting used to a new narrator. The main issue is that the chapters are all out of order.

At 16, Sadie Young had a brush with death, and as a result she became more sensitive to the supernatural. Now 25 and working as a librarian, Sadie is called upon by a desperate family friend to look into a strange series of events. A teenaged girl has entered a reputedly haunted house in town and has gone mad. Committed, the girl attempts suicide and claims to be terrorized at all hours by a horrific specter known as "Mother Maggot".

Mispronunciation
Reviewed: 03-17-21
The story was intriguing, though the defeat of Mother Maggot was a little anticlimactic, but did leave a sense of impending dread for the sequel to come. What bothered me the most and almost made me return this title is the narrator’s mispronunciation of the word Library. The main characters apparently work at a liberry and are liberrians. Did no one listen before they released the audio?!

Story
Penny hates the outdoors, but when her boyfriend, Jared, plans a romantic weekend getaway in the woods, she decides to tag along. The pair drive to a remote Kentucky campground with a strange and sordid history. Within the confines of the Swan Creek State Park are the ruins of a town abandoned under terrifying circumstances in the 19th century. The town of Newsom's Landing had been the site of the last-known witch trial in US history, and the ghost of its defendant, the infamous Ellie Pomeroy, is said to still linger.

It was a good spooky story. I would have like more history of the lost town and the witch. I wish they would have found more of the abandoned town. But it kept me listening and I do recommend.

Story
Daniel is desperate for a job. When someone slides a note under his door offering him the groundskeeper’s position at an old estate, it seems too good to be true. Alarm bells start ringing when he arrives at Craven Manor. The mansion’s front door hangs open, and leaves and cobwebs coat the marble foyer. It’s clear no one has lived there in a long time. But an envelope waits for him inside the doorway. It contains money and promises more.

Story
There's something wrong with Ashburn House. The ancient building has been the subject of rumours for close to a century. Its owner, Edith, refused to let guests inside and rarely visited the nearby town. Following Edith's death, her sole surviving relative, Adrienne, inherits the property. Adrienne's only possessions are a suitcase of luggage, 20 dollars, and her pet cat. Ashburn House is a lifeline she can't afford to refuse. Adrienne doesn't believe in ghosts, but it's hard to ignore the unease that grows as she explores her new home.

I throughly enjoyed this book and stayed up late to finish it. The last 2 hours were gripping and exciting. It wasn't the ghost story I expected, but it was brilliant either way.
