Can't stand the slurs
Reviewed: 12-16-21
I really love Warhammer lore, and finding folks who share it with good research and insight. I'll never know, because the constant use of the F slur made me never want to listen to them again. I'd give 0 stars if I could.

Story
Five days after Owen Zastava Pitt pushed his insufferable boss out of a 14th story window, he woke up in the hospital with a scarred face, an unbelievable memory, and a job offer. It turns out that monsters are real. All the things from myth, legend, and B-movies are out there, waiting in the shadows. Some of them are evil, and some are just hungry. Monster Hunter International is the premier eradication company in the business. And now Owen is their newest recruit.

Came for monster hunting, left for the racism
Reviewed: 03-20-21
The monster hunting is really good, but the constant undertone of casual racism ruined it. I don't mind that every character is a libertarian, and I even managed to listen past the point where the author complained about "politicians pimping poverty," as gross as it was. But after the scene where they defend the house from vampire attack there is just an incredibly racist scene about the lone black character in the book, and I had to stop. Performance is fine, wish the material was better.

This is for Dark Angel fans, not Deathwatch
Reviewed: 09-15-18
No spoilers.
The book is marketed and titled as a Deathwatch story, and while it does follow a Deathwatch Kill Team, it’s actual focus is on the secret missions of a Dark Angel. If you’ve enjoyed CZ Dunn’s Dark Angel work you may enjoy it, but if you are looking for an interesting Deathwatch story, like I was, look elsewhere.
