Story
For years, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) was the medically approved way to alleviate menopausal symptoms (ranging from hot flushes to brain fog) and reduce the risk of heart disease, Alzheimer's, and osteoporosis. But when a large study by the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) announced, with national fanfare, that women taking HRT had an increased risk of breast cancer, women were scared off, and the treatment was abandoned.

Excellent information and a must read for every woman heading into menopause
Reviewed: 04-03-25
I was encouraged to read this book by a Physician Assistant friend of mine who has special certification in menopause. It challenged my previous thinking about Hormone Replacement Therapy and the authors heavily supported their viewpoints with facts based on solid research. I am super grateful for what I have learned and will be using the information to help myself and other women in my sphere of influence during this season of transition

Story
Tony Kavanagh had been Allison’s dream-come-true. They were in love within days, engaged within weeks, married and pregnant within a year. Her cup bubbled over with joy...but years later, that joy was extinguished by unexpected trials. The day Allison issued her husband an ultimatum, she thought it might save him. She never expected he would actually leave. She was certain God had promised healing - but it became clear she’d misunderstood. Now, living in the quiet mountain cabin she inherited from her Great Aunt Emma, Allison must come to terms with her grief.

Well written story of the faithfulness of God
Reviewed: 12-03-22
I read a number of reviews before purchasing this book because I am a very picky reader. I often find Christian fiction not well written, extremely predictable, and sometimes even cheesy. So, I admit to some skepticism purchasing this one, but there were enough glowing reviews that I decided to try it. it was very well done. From a structural standpoint, the story flowed well and the shifts between the characters of Emma and Allison were not difficult to follow. The ending was not abrupt or rushed and transition points after a time lapse were smooth as well. From a story standpoint. I liked it. It took a very difficult subject and addressed it with grace and truth. The characters and their struggles were real, but so were their victories and joys. I wasn't entirely sure how it would end until the very end. I could guess, and would've guessed correctly, but I still wasn't super sure. I appreciate the author's vulnerability as she wove her own story into the lives of Emma and Allison. Overall, a beautiful read and a reminder that God answers prayer, though not always like we would except.

This book is beautiful. It is packed with stories of men and women throughout the ages who have faced tremendous adversity and sorrows and in them found God to be trustworthy. A really wonderful book that re-centers and re-focuses our hearts and minds on the eternal in spite of our circumstances.

Great story, excellent plot, fell flat at the end.

I loved this book! I really did! I was thinking, "finally a Christian novel that compete with the likes of John Grisham". BUT the ending was so abrupt and the "loose ends" so quickly wrapped up that it fell flat. Such a bummer. Another 100 pages would've made this one perfect.
