I thought this would be comedic, lol--but I listened until I was halfway through before realizing Rob just wanted to portray himself as a sex symbol instead of a comedian and there weren't going to be nuggets of wisdom or insight either.

Phil is consistent in his recommendations regarding indexes and asset allocations. Also, he does not allow donations so that's great too.

This is the first personal finance book I've read that talks about managing wealth for retirement AND navigating bankruptcy or foreclosure (houses and IRAs are not included in bankruptcy, which is a good thing if you knew that before withdrawing all your house or investment equity)

a bit literally preachy (Christian).
I guess I don't like the historical figures portrayed?
At least they mentioned that women were trained to be astronauts in the sixties before being arbitrarily fired.
The portrayal of the future didn't get much closer to society's ideals and did have preachy characters and an odd fixation on religion (and they didn't even mention being fair as far as nonreligious cultural practices/being multicultural, censoring individualistic philosophy)

At the end I reflected on what had stayed constant in the ideology of the South as it migrated parties, etc. The author said the American Paradox, I need your freedom to be curtailed for my liberty, and valuing property rights above all other Human Rights, Blacks have less support (all of that typically guised in "rugged individualism")

I loved the use of franchises to examine how Capitalism has (and hasn't because it can't) helped Black Americans. I wish the performer of Warmth of Other Suns had done this book though, it can feel lectureish despite the colorful anecdotes.

Acting is akin to two person plays; just like those kinds of plays the point is the human condition rather than story.
