Great length. Lanyon's shorter books seem to be more focused and coherent. Two well developed protagonists and a well plotted mystery.

Mediocre Romance

Entertaining for first 9 chapters then went off the rails. Main characters did not think or act like men; they acted like female heroines in a Barbara Cartland novel.

Great two-hour listen with fantastic world-building and characters. I have not enjoyed a mm fantasy/scifi/romance this much in ages. Narration is spot on. Likeable, fully realized protagonists. Nice lead-in to followup books.
This book has it all: airships, cowboys, saloons, and handsome gruff hairy heroes.

When a young boy at a bowling alley has his cheeseburger delivered by a handsome future air force cadet, an infatuation develops so strong that three years later, when he learns the older boy's home town, he sets off on his bike to find him. The relationship that develops between the two boys is one of the most heartwarming and seductive in coming of age literature. Luke Hartwell, known for his honest portrayals of young adult sexuality and his compelling first-person narrators, has written a beautiful story with characters that listeners will want to befriend.

Short, Sweet, and So Realistic
Reviewed: 06-11-20
This author captures what I remember about being young and confused and alone. The two protagonists are so true to life that I felt like I knew each as a friend.
The narrator does a great, unassuming job and bolsters the intensity of the story.

Mystery is well plotted. The guys have instant chemistry. Neither is a simple stereotype. Good sex scenes. Background characters are well thought-out and complex. More in this series, please!

Loved this book. A change of pace from the average MM romance. Rough characters that are not unbelievably cocky or handsome or sarcastic. Just two great guys with problems who need help from each other. Believable hot sex scenes.

Story
Lover of fine poetry and lousy choose-your-own-adventure novels, Professor Sebastian Swift was once the bad-boy darling of the literati. The only lines he does these days are Browning, Frost, and Cummings. Even his relationship with the hot, handsome Wolfe Neck Police chief, Max Prescott, is healthy. When one of his most talented students comes to him bruised and begging for help, Swift hands over the keys to his Orson Island cabin - only to find out that the boy's father is dead and the police are suspicious.

Not as good a Lanyon as some of the serial novels but a pleasant diversion. The protagonist's odd actions often made me yell out loud in frustration. Good romance and adequate mystery. Narration is great.

Noah Silver is having a difficult time. With his mom passing and his dad growing more and more difficult to live with, he's pushed into an unorthodox way of making money. He knew that being a cam boy would be temporary, but he didn't realize how drastically it would change his life. He had no idea he would meet the man of his dreams because of it. He also had no idea he would become the target of a serial killer because of it.

Off the Rails
Reviewed: 07-11-19
Really struggled to finish. Started out okay with a goofy premise then went off the rails. Characters personalities were not consistent. A trip by the main characters to an exotic location was shocking. LGBT citizens there are imprisoned or worse - no mention at all of the oppressive regime behind the country's problems.
