Historia
Islam has been one of the most powerful religious, social, and political forces in history. Over the last 1,400 years, from origins in Arabia, a succession of Muslim polities, and later empires expanded to control territories and peoples that ultimately stretched from southern France to East Africa and South East Asia. Yet many of the contributions of Muslim thinkers, scientists, and theologians, not to mention rulers, statesmen, and soldiers, have been occluded. This book rescues from oblivion and neglect some of these personalities and institutions.

"Free," but one of the best audiobooks in a short run
Revisado: 11-16-24
Seemingly well researched and well presented from an author obviously a little biased in favor of his subject. it is good to listen to so much effort at 'accuracy' in history now and then. Praise from a star in the West.

You're allowed to disagree with the author - he made a lot of points
Revisado: 10-26-24
Long listen by an author who wrote in a directive fashion as an instructor of his worldview of Yoga as a practice and science. You sense a reverence for the material and his personal heros amidst gurus and world leaders. I certainly recommend, but I confess, he inspired me disagreeing stronger into my own position at times, ha. I'd call that the epitome of Vedanta. He fully conceptualized his view.

The Bhagavad Gita, "The Song of the Lord", is the best known of all the Indian scriptures, and Easwaran's reliable and accessible version has consistently been the best-selling translation. Easwaran's introduction places the Gita in its historical setting and brings out the universality and timelessness of its teachings. Chapter introductions give clear explanations of key concepts in that chapter.

I enjoyed the listen and the perspective. I have my own for the Gita; high praise and deep philosophy are offered here along with the original. I enjoyed it a great deal.

Well retorld and inviting recapture of the story

I really enjoyed the narrator. Putting that up front. It gave the narration an intentional authenticity that I appreciated. Generally just very well done and enjoyed, but that's the J mark.

Appreciatively long treatise on an infinite subject
Revisado: 10-05-24
The author does an exhaustive introductory study on the entirety of Indian religious thought in a text that will keep you interested for the days it takes to consume. Extremely well stated at times, wonderful depth and respect without seeming bias by the author. Just high praise for a philosophical / religious text. Well worth a credit.

The Perfection of Wisdom tradition is fundamental to all Mahayana Buddhist traditions, and its two most popular books are translated here from Sanskrit: the Diamond Sutra and the Heart Sutra. They are translated into plain English with separate notes to explain their meaning.

Great presentation

I truly appreciate being able to access both Sutra on audio as they would have been received and delivered. They should also always be presented together for the duality as much as the conversation. I would not want to discuss the Diamond Sutra with my son without the Heart Sutra to distract him with images.

Historia
The object of this book is to provide a simple introduction to the Indian systems of philosophy. Each one of these systems has had a vast and varied development. Attempt has been made to introduce the listener to the spirit and outlook of Indian philosophy and help him to grasp thoroughly the central ideas rather than acquaint him with minute details. Modern students of philosophy feel many difficulties in understanding the Indian problems and theories.

Thank you for your very indepth introduction
Revisado: 10-02-24
Looking for one thing to focus on for a positive review - Vocabulary. You did a wonderful, or presented wonderfully, etc. a diverse vocabulary of very nuanced subject materials of great importance to others. I realized into the text that that is assuredly what I was there for, in comprehension, to understand the language of organizing thoughts and ancient wisdoms.

Historia
My name is Nate Temple, and I’m secretly a wizard. I ride a foul-mouthed unicorn, I drink with Achilles, and I’m pals with the Four Horsemen. I’ve even cow-tipped the Minotaur. I understand the theory of following the rules...I’m just not very good at the application. Because rules were meant to be broken, and St. Louis has a bit of a supernatural infestation these days. Someone should probably be keeping an eye on these things -and probably an eye on me, too. Before I blow up another building...or three.

It follows a familiar pattern that I enjoy and was an awesome bargain that I recommend, good voice work and quality, and 4 for being an excellent version of a cheesy genre.
