Story
Michael Jackson was globally famous yet misunderstood by many. He was loved by his fans and demonized by the corporate press. He became famous at a young age and soared to superstardom as a young adult. As he matured, so did his music. He sang of unity, peace, and harmony, and against war and injustice. He created his beloved Neverland Ranch to serve as a healing escape for others.

Story
Michael Jackson was once universally acclaimed as a song-and-dance man of genius; Wacko Jacko is now, more often than not, dismissed for his bizarre race and gender transformations and confounding antics, even as he is commonly reviled for the child molestation charges twice brought against him. Whence the weirdness and alleged criminality? How to account for Michael Jackson's rise and fall?

For years, Margaret Maldonado Jackson was a celebrant of the good life, living with her Prince Charming - Jermaine - at the Jackson family estate in Encino, California. A former teenage runaway who had barely survived life in the fast lane, she had felt fortunate to be welcomed into the Jackson clan. So why, in 1993, was she running for her life with her children? What had happened to this young woman to make her feel so threatened and so alone?

Fame and disfonctionality
Reviewed: 06-21-23
Margaret pictured the Jackson family disfonctionality Michael despised the most.
I am glad MJ left Encino for Neverland to build his own kingdom far from this mental mutilation.
As for Jermaine ,his portrait in this book is not flattering and uneventful. I believe being single parent is the most painful family ordeal ever. I too is supportive of these men and women that face the misconduct and irresponsibility of their spouse or intimate.

Story
Hounded by the tabloid media, driven from his self-made sanctuary at Neverland, Michael Jackson spent his final years moving from city to city, living with his three children in virtual seclusion - a futile attempt to escape a world that wouldn’t leave him alone. During that time, two men served as the singer’s personal security team: Bill Whitfield, a former cop and veteran of the security profession, and Javon Beard, a brash, untested rookie, both single fathers themselves. Stationed at his side nearly 24/7, their job was to see and hear everything that transpired.

To Frank Cascio, Michael Jackson was many things - second father, big brother, boss, mentor, and teacher, but most of all he was a friend. Though Cascio was just a few years old when he first met Jackson in 1984, at the peak of the pop star’s career, Jackson was at the center of his life for the next twenty-five years.

The narrator was great. Easy flow Kevin! it is in fact a romantic version with living with Michael Jackson. Well written, pleasant to hear . the most important is that this friendship and mentorship inspire the future of a young man . The opportunity to a professional success of a life time. This book reminded me " hold my hand" or " Whatever happens, don't you let go of my hand" songs . Great narrative Frank!

Listeners will learn about Michael Jackson’s keen sense of the historical challenges faced by African-American entertainers, and Michael’s feelings toward the inequitable relationship between entertainers and the professionals (i.e., lawyers, accountants) that often gain more financially than the artists themselves. And most compelling, listeners will gain an appreciation for Michael’s business genius and the visionary purchases and partnerships he conceived, including with Marvel Comics and Disney.
