Story
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Really enjoyed this book. Growing up in Detroit and then as an adult in the Miami River Valley (Eastern Indiana & Prebble County) I can sense and relate to many of Vance’s challenges for both myself and those I have been surrounded with for so much of my adult life.

She's going to break through Cain's Scrooge-like exterior the only way she knows how: by killing him with kindness.

Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

Story
In Legend, acclaimed best-selling author Eric Blehm takes as his canvas the Vietnam War as seen through a single mission that occurred on May 2, 1968. A 12-man Special Forces team had been covertly inserted into a small clearing in the jungles of neutral Cambodia - where US forces were forbidden to operate. Their objective, just miles over the Vietnam border, was to collect evidence that proved the North Vietnamese Army was using the Cambodian sanctuary as a major conduit for supplying troops and materiel to the south via the Ho Chi Minh Trail.

Really enjoyed. Helped me better understand the twisted politics of the war in Vietnam from the White House on down. Most of all how the special forces soldiers performed in service to each other and made it possible for so many to return to their families who might not otherwise.
