The actors were all amazing, and I really enjoyed the story, but what really made this for me, a heartbroken Cordelia fan who hated her last storyline and ending on Angel, was a story that did Cordelia justice! ❤️🫶❤️

It's always interesting to hear an audio version of a book you've lived in print. The reader frequently brings out things differently than you heard them in your head. That definitely happened here--in a good way. In particular, Page was younger sounding than the version in my head but it works. I also enjoyed Morningstar and Mouse, as always.

The reading pace was a plus, too. Morehouse's books are real page-turners, so I have a tendency to rush. In audio, I'm forced to show down and savor the book.

I read this book ages ago and enjoyed it, but it was long enough ago that I'd forgotten some details. Listening to the book adds a special dimension in that it forces me to slow down and savor it instead of turning the pages quickly to see what happens next. (Nitpick: the narrator mispronounced some Hebrew but was otherwise perfect.) Highly recommended, and I can't wait for the rest of the series!

What made the experience of listening to The Casual Vacancy the most enjoyable?

Rowling is really good at character. There are several characters that should have been cliche, but were instead rendered in shades of grey. A couple of the characters I found utterly vile, but in a three dimensional and interesting way. Rowling's also good at making readers cry.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Krystal, Sukhvinder, and Barry are my favorites. Barry because of his good heart, and Krystal because she's trying to hard with the unfair responsibilities placed on her young shoulders. And Sukhvinder because she steps up and does some good, brave things.

Any additional comments?

People compare this to the Potter books, but I think they're forgetting how dark the Potter books are when they do. The Potter books have murder, child abuse, racism, etc., and she's dealing with similar dark issues in this book. Her admiration of courage, her dislike of pettiness, and her horror at children being mistreated shine through in all Rowling's work.

If you could sum up Hellbent in three words, what would they be?

Vampires, witches, and funny intrigue. Okay, so that's three nouns, an adjective, and a conjunction. That means it's in the style of the book, so sue me. If you can find me, that is.

What about Neil Gaiman’s performance did you like?

Neil Gaiman has a lovely speaking voice. He very quickly drew me in to the story.
