Story
It's summertime on the Riviera, where the Jazz Age is busily reinventing the holiday delights of warm days on golden sand and cool nights on terraces and dance floors. Just up the coast lies a more traditional pleasure ground: Monte Carlo, where fortunes are won, lost, stolen, and hidden away. So when Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes happen across the Côte d'Azur in this summer of 1925, they find themselves pulled between the young and the old, hot sun and cool jazz, new friendships and old loyalties, childlike pleasures and very grownup sins...

When Autobiography of a Yogi first appeared in 1946, it was acclaimed as a landmark work in its field. The New York Times hailed it as "a rare account". Newsweek pronounced it "fascinating". The San Francisco Chronicle declared, "Yogananda presents a convincing case for yoga, and those who 'came to scoff' may remain 'to pray." Today it is still one of the most widely read and respected books ever published on the wisdom of the East.

The story was quite fun. Always enjoy something from MC Beaton. The narration wasn’t great however it did not ruin the story at all. I increased the speed slightly which enlivened the performance.

Narration ruined the story
Reviewed: 02-11-14
Ammature narration cheapened the story. Many readers seemed to enjoy the eye-rolling narration style however I found that it turned the story into a one dimentional, middle school performance. The sarcasm made the leading character unlikable.
There was no difference in voice from one characte to the next. Simply a cynical snarling mess.
