My husband and I absolutely loved the first girl child on all accounts. Amy’s story was unique and beautiful and Rob Shapiro does an incredible job narrating. When I saw that this book was placed in the same creative and original setting I was really excited to start it, but pretty quick into the book it becomes apparent how redundant it is. In theory it is a cool idea, Amy brings in a new main character and she could have done a much better job of masterfully interweaving his story into the first one but instead it was insanely clunky and she literally just regurgitated a good 60% of the first girl child. Original story. Good characters. I just really didn’t like the narrator who is a female do male voices. There is also a crow woman who is predominant in the story and she slaughters her voice as well. It was highly distracting I think from what the author intended for the male characters.

Chelsea at her very best. I loved every single moment of this book and her reading of it— especially all of the moments where she is quoting herself feeling strong emotions— was possibly the best I’ve ever heard in my life.
Just listen to it!
