I have to agree with other reviews saying that the narrator was not good. Very monotonous and boring.

my 9-year old son and I did not like the book. lukewarm "it's Ok" was his response, and I didn't like it at all. while the story is not bad, reading is really boring, particularly parts where they read text messages and online posts. we listened to Henry Huggins series of books right before this one and the entertainment value was so much higher with the former.

Would you try another book from the author and/or Louis Sachar?

Who is reading it?? The picture says Read by Lidnel Wilson, the product page says Narrated by Louis Sachar. This is the most uninspired, monotonous, boring, put-you-to-sleep reading I have heard to date. I cannot even follow the story, my brain goes numb.

I listen 20 min at a time while I am driving my 8 year old son to school and back, and I can't wait for this book to be over. On a long trip I would surely fall asleep to this reader's "performance".

My son asked for this book because his teacher read a Wayside School story during a class, and he said it was fun. After listening to this horrible performance, even he agrees that it is super boring. He said that his teacher read it with expression, and this man is reading like he is in a coma.

There are a couple of humorous parts that I was able to concentrate on, e.g. the teacher during a music class was asking a student to speak louder, but kids playing instruments thought that "louder" is addressed to them, so they play louder, so the teacher is asking the student to speak louder, and so on in circles. However, the humor was completely drained by the monotonous performance.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

If I get to ending before I die from boredom, I am buying myself a steak dinner at Morton's as a reward.

What didn’t you like about Louis Sachar’s performance?

Louis Sachar should never ever ever perform anything ever again.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Most of my brain cells were bored to death by the monotonous reader.

Any additional comments?

Can I have my money back, please?
