Great sci-fi story with a lot of twists and turns! I loved the interactions between Graves and his new partner and how different they were. R.C. Bray does an amazing job, as usual, providing the narrative and really bringing the characters to life.

Marcus Wade was a man who wasn't easily intimidated - that is, until he had reason to believe someone was trying to kill him. Upon talking the matter over with his wife Sybil, he decided to hire someone who would not only protect him, but who would also scare off any potential murderers. Enter private detective Brett Cornell, who jumps at the chance to push his weight around on the man's behalf, but is even more anxious to get it on with the lovely Sybil Wade, as well as her younger and even more voluptuous sister Nora - for starters!

My favorite Brett book!

Brett finally has some competition in the unscrupulous bastard category and I love it! Just like in the other Brett books, the private detective uses his humor and unique charm to help solve a mystery. I don't want to give anything away but what I love about these books are that they are really funny but also really good mysteries that makes you think!
Travis Henry Carter is superb as Brett Cornell and I always get a kick out of him! This is one you won't want to miss!

Story
The beautiful and alluring Tammy Rankin and her brother Andy were positively grief-stricken when their well-to-do father died of a fatal heart attack. In fact, their grief was intensified when they realized that their young stepmother stood to inherit his vast fortune; that is, unless they could somehow suggest foul play and pin a murder rap on the woman. They obviously needed to enlist the services of someone who was totally devoid of any amount of scruples whatsoever.

Better than the first!
Reviewed: 05-23-18
I really enjoyed the 2nd book in the Epik Fantasy series. It had a lot of light-hearted and fun moments and I really enjoyed the characters in this one. I liked this one better than the first book because the characters are already established and we can jump into the action a lot quicker. The narrator was also much better this time than the last book.

This had to be my favorite Brett Cornell Mysteries book so far! This story is a little darker than the previous books but the humor and wit from David D'Aguanno is still there!
I loved everything about this book. It was funny, it had plenty of mystery and we got to see another side of Brett that I think the listener will really enjoy.
The narration is perfect and I just love listening to Brett! I hope this is the start to a deeper side of Brett because I really enjoyed the darker tones of the story as well as more emotions coming from Brett. Great story, great narrating, great overall!

"Gary N. and Helen W. Trank of 66 Colstone Boulevard take great pleasure in announcing the recent nuptials of their daughter Pamela Ann, and Brett Cornell...." The above words appeared in the local newspaper, and thousands of women throughout the city immediately went into mourning! Well, not exactly. But private detective and self-proclaimed unscrupulous bastard Brett Cornell nearly went into cardiac arrest when, shortly thereafter, he received a personal home visit from Homicide Lieutenant James Wilson.
