Story
Paha Sapa, a young Sioux warrior, first encounters General George Armstrong Custer as Custer lies dying on the battlefield at Little Bighorn. He believes - as do the holy men of his tribe - that the legendary general's ghost entered him at that moment and will remain with him until Sapa convinces him to leave.

An amazing journey
Reviewed: 03-28-10
This was a truly wonderful story about the Lakota indians of the Black Hills. It's told in flash-forwards and flash-backs of an 11 year old indian boy named Paha Sapa. It left me with a sadness for the losses of the "natural free human beings" who lived near the Black Hills, known by them as "the Six Grandfathers". It is one of the best books that I've read in a while.

This is a chilling and gruesome book. To think that there are people out there like the Boneman is disturbing. But sometimes I like to read chilling, gruesome and disturbing books. This was a good one.

Although he doesn't know anything about the subject (at first), he is eager to learn, and takes information that he gets from the world's leading experts and explains it to us in a way that makes it exciting and relevant.

What a great listen. Covers an amazing amount of material without overwhelming you. The narrator is wonderful. Like a humorous Carl Sagan. Don't miss it.

Very Good But

You certainly didn't have to wait long for the action to start. This is the best book I've "read" in quite a while. Each night I was anxious to get back to the story. The only problem I had was that it started out at such break-neck speed, I couldn't see how he could keep it up through an entire book. There were some slow spots later on and the ending was a little abrupt for me, but overall, a great Stephen King book.
