In history books the English is not the exalted language which versifies the translations of Helmut Humbach, but does the job alright. Great book for what it sets out to do and I wish more people had his determination for bringing the history of this important period of World History to the public attention and not shy away from mean criticisms...

If you want an accurate consensus of the facts on the atrocities committed against indigenous peoples throughout American history, this is your book. While there is a clear bias in Captivating History approach, I would argue that it is an accurate bias, one in defense of peoples whom have spent generations within the strongholds of systematic oppression. A hugely important work, this will be required reading in anthropology/sociology/history classes for decades to come.

'The Ultimate Guide to Lean Startup' was James Edge's explanation of the 'whys' method to examine problems within any business. You can save a lot of time and money by gathering together everyone working on a particular project and drilling down into why a certain problem occurred. Instead of blaming individuals and stopping at the first level of the problem, such as a milestone not being met because of experimental failure, look at why the experiment failed. Are your scientists overworked? Was there a problem with reagent supply? Do you need to retrain staff or change suppliers or audit your supplies more regularly?

Time and time again, the author cannot resist remarking upon his footnoted authorities, calibrating their weight, delighting in the discovery of inconsistencies, and refereeing contesting interpretations among historians.

Overall it was an interesting read. It covered many interesting topics throughout the book giving useful tips to a range of people in various roles. In particular, I enjoyed the chapter about first impressions being lasting impressions. Its definitely a chapter I can use in my day-to-day life!
