Annie Oakley has always suspected there is something "uncanny" about herself, but has never been able to put a name to it. But when Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show goes on tour through Germany, Bill temporarily hires a new sharpshooter to be part of his "World Wide Congress of Rough Riders": a woman named Frida, who also happens to be an Elemental Master of Air. I love this series but this one was so hard to get through. Very little excitement. It just dragged on and on

Awful narrator! Great story

I love this series! This book is not my favorite but still very enjoyable. Listening to it with this narrator was pretty rough. She gave the men higher pitched voices than the women! Whiny and too feminine!

Awesome story-slow narrator. 1.2x speed recommended
Reviewed: 07-26-23
LOVE these books, but love them more now that we can listen at 1.2x speed. The narrator does a good job, but goes so slowly it’s annoying.

It will take Alva, the Imperium, the sects, clans, nations, and city-states to band together as they did in times of old. It’s time for everyone to put their war boots on and put their cultivation to use.

Very satisfying ending, and he didn’t drag it out like Lord of the Rings. He just covered his bases and let it. I loved it!

Story
Black knights. Dastardly pirates. Bloodthirsty rebels. And those are the good guys. War is coming to the Midlands. Like a kettle ready to bubble over, cities teeter at the brink of boiling, all while a spymaster fans the flames. Witness the rise of the Violet Order. It was always coming to this. Freedom isn't given, it's wrenched from the choking grips of those who would stifle, contain, and control. Legends are rife with noble heroes standing over vanquished enemies, but reality is more grisly.

Less LitRPG more Power Rangers
Reviewed: 10-30-20
Very little ongoing character development, that all maxed out really quickly. Honestly I got tired of the series in book 3, and the rest got pretty silly. Not as much LitRPG in the end, more like a He-Man/Power Rangers/Vultron action cartoon. Story was entertaining enough but not what I look for in a LitRPG series.

Great book!

The only problem I had with this book was that it was sometimes hard to follow, due to the constant and seemingly random jumps in the timeline. Read it twice to put it all together, it's worth it!
