A wonderfully sweet story of finding a family.

This is a story about hurt people finding each other through a long journey together. The characters are deep, their backstories well thought out, and the world they inhabit built for us through conversation instead of long lore dumps.

It is sweet and gentle. With the narrator doing a wonderful job bringing the characters to life.

an excellent, of obscure, read

I remember devouring this series when I was in my mid teens. coming back to it more than 20 years later I still enjoyed it. The world is an interesting one, and this is one of the few series I'm aware of to directly address ideas about gender and identity.

I first read this book decades ago... and it is still a solid work. Franklin Pierson does an outstanding job bringing these characters to life. even giving them accents where needed.

a book I have always loved

I first read this story back when I was in high school. It came in a bound version with the "Fall of Hyperion". it had long been a favorite of mine, and I've read it many times over the twenty odd years since. the original copy still sits on my shelf, but the many readings have rendered it delicate. I also own a paperback copy, that I picked up some years back so that I could read it without fear of the book coming apart in my hands.

The story is one of mystery, passion, prophecy, and a vision of worlds more exotic then I could have imagined before. Reading it opened my mind to possibilities that I'd never before guessed at. The world is rich, alive, as are the characters found within.

these days I don't have as much time as I once had to read... so I picked up this audio book. the voice acting is amazing, and from now on this is how the characters will sound in my head
