Woman Hater???
Revisado: 01-31-22
While the topic is good and noble, the delivery is not. The violence against women is astounding. We have women being beaten across their nipples with electrical cords, eyes gouged out, young women fingers being bitten off by hyenas, women being shot in the head, lesbian sex scenes, women grabbing "cocks and putting them in their cunts". Women begging to be strangled during sex. WTH?? This author is a woman-hater, he is written a story around his desire to torture women. None of this has anything to do with water rights. I am on chapter 33. This author is right up there with Ted Bundy. I am a true crime reader (Bundy, Greenriver, Hillside strangler, Manson murders), and a fan of Stephen King. My comments are not because I am a prude. I am having to read this for coursework? Sorry I might have to take a lower grade because I have had enough and I will get a refund for the credit used to purchase this trash.

Historia
More than 15 years after the events of The Handmaid's Tale, the theocratic regime of the Republic of Gilead maintains its grip on power, but there are signs it is beginning to rot from within. At this crucial moment, the lives of three radically different women converge, with potentially explosive results. Two have grown up as part of the first generation to come of age in the new order. The testimonies of these two young women are joined by a third: Aunt Lydia. Her complex past and uncertain future unfold in surprising and pivotal ways.

She doesn't disapoint!
Revisado: 01-15-20
Having read the book for the first time, years ago. And then again 6 years ago I was surprised to see that she had finished the story. I shook in anticipation in the completion of the journey of Offred and Aunt Lydia! I am one of those people who do not like when a great book has been made into a move or TV show. I stopped watching the Handmaids Tale on hulu because I feel like it is not being true to the book and only Margaret Atwood should make such changes. But this book didn't disappoint me! I might have another listen to get everything I might have missed when listening the first time. I listen during commuting times, so you know how that is, half listening. It was also great hearing Bryce Dallas Howard and Derek Jacobi, two of my favorite actors

Historia
Jane Eyre follows the emotions and experiences of eponymous Jane Eyre, her growth to adulthood, and her love for Mr. Rochester, the byronic master of Thornfield Hall. The novel contains elements of social criticism, with a strong sense of morality at its core, but is nonetheless a novel many consider ahead of its time given the individualistic character of Jane and the novel's exploration of sexuality, religion, and proto-feminism.

very good story but very controversial I see why only one film was made Plus at the time that it was released it was going up against Harry Potter. but the storyline with the views of the church would be very hard to Market but it is a great story

A excellent read!
Revisado: 02-11-13
Having grown up with Kubrick's Shining I was interested in how the book would be. Now I see why Stephen King wasn't happy with the film. I found that it showed Jack Torrance as a loving caring father, missing from Kubricks adaptation. Wendy's strength is shown and Danny's love for his parents. It was great, thats all I can say. Read it, you won't be sorry!

Cathy's Vengence
Revisado: 09-10-12
When I first read this book (like most people) I was in the 8th grarde and it was a very powerful influence in my life. I learned how to use my sexuality to my advantage. So when I saw the book on audio I thought I would give it a try. The narrator did a fine job, but what I found that what I thought was so good in the 8th grade, just seemed a little silly now that I am an adult woman. It still affected me the same way as far as the storyline but what I now couldn't now comprehend is how Corrine could do what she did, but once again it is a story of fiction. I didn't like they way Chris and Cathy could now live as husband and wife in the end and I don't like the way Chris and Cathy couldnt get past this part of their lives. I did like the fact that Cathy did get vengence against her mother. I did like the fact that I could now google V.C. Andrews and find out how she got the idea for her series. Unfortunatly they didn't finish the series on audio!!!! So here I go to the thrift stores to find If There Be Thorns book.
I hope that they will get the rest of the series on audio.

The Wonderful World of Oz
Revisado: 08-12-12
I had never read the books but only saw the movie. Both myself and my six year old daughter. At first she didn't care for it because it didn't follow the movie, but then I explained how the book is the "real" story and the movie is the "Hollywood version" of it. She then listened with new ears and loved the true story and cannot wait for the next books and the new adventures!
