Story
The Aftermath of a stunning victory—especially an unexpected, complete, and final victory—should be high-fives all around, listening to politicians give boring congratulatory speeches, and a well-deserved rest for the Merry Band of Pirates. Yes, the galaxy is still a freakin' mess, but that is nothing new, and for a change, that can be someone else's problem. Until, you know, something really bad happens, and only the Pirates can deal with the problem... Or not.

I somehow managed to make his last a whole week. The story is more self contained and I realize that I prefer that to the cliffhangers. If you don't already know that these books are about, go start the first book. If you already, "TTA," then this is a great addition to the series and a fantastic way to slowly move the series forward.

Story
Not every danger comes in the form of a mega-threat like a Titan. Some predators are a lot cozier...more personal. When one such creature threatens an independent tutor, Harry Dresden must shake off the blood and dirt of his most recent battles and rise to the occasion, even when it turns out that the new predator is far more dangerous and connected than first appearances would suggest.

My wife has a headache, my dog at my candybar, can't find my keys, my last pair of good underwear has a hole in em and I just stepped on a LEGO but it was still a good day because I got some new Dresden Files material.
It was great to see Harry taking baby steps to get back on his path in a post Murphy world and I have no doubt that we haven't heard the last of that thread but Jim is gonna make us earn it. Seeing the state of Marcone and Mab was illuminating to the future of the franchise, they are still dangerous but they took a beating in that Titan fight. Looking forward to more as always.

Sherman Holmes has officially settled into his new city, and the World's Greatest Detective Agency has opened its doors. While his put-upon partner, Watson, would be happy to keep the jobs as simple as missing pets, when a worried worker with an outlandish tale of ghosts walks in, there's no stopping Sherman from taking the case. Now, the new duo must investigate a local "haunted" tourist site where the scares are going off-script and otherworldly interference is suspected.

This was another fun story to pass some time by one of my favorite authors. His plots are generally wrapped up in a timely manner with small tendrils leading to a broader issues and I've never seen him fail to tie off every single one. The title tells you all you need to know but keep in mind this series hasn't introduced any fantasy or supernatural elements.

After forming a coalition of human resistance against the enemy invasion, Dalinar Kholin and his Knights Radiant have spent a year fighting a protracted, brutal war. Neither side has gained an advantage, and the threat of a betrayal by Dalinar’s crafty ally Taravangian looms over every strategic move. Now, as new technological discoveries by Navani Kholin’s scholars begin to change the face of the war, the enemy prepares a bold and dangerous operation. The arms race that follows will challenge the very core of the Radiant ideals.

-My review had stars added to it after I submitted..check your submits-
I'll be honest. If this wasn't an audio book I may not have finished it, but all I had to do was keep listening. I can't get everything I felt off about in this but the worst thing for me is the character development. I'm to the point that I literally don't like most of these characters.
Everything that happens to them in this bookSHOULDVE been in the previous books. Kal is STILL doing the same crap he did in 1-3; past is overwhelming him, check; wallowing in his depression, check; putting Syl in danger..you get the picture. Shalone is just as bad. He took the long road out by having to actually try to deal with the mental problems he put on them instead of snapping his fingers(well not in her case) and fixing it. This does NOT make for good consumption. Dalanar and Nevany are entitled turds who just keep getting pushed to the top.
Hmmmm...imagine 5 or 6 horses get beat to death in the previous books. Well THIS book goes into detail of what the thuds sounded like as they landed. I understand that a large narrative needs more characters when its first person and there's a lot of story needing to be told. I still detest KNOWING the enemies plots well in advance and then getting to sit there, impotently, as the protags walk right in, especially when they SHOULD have noticed so many things askew that have only ever happened when the enemy was near. He does this alot.
Sanderson has a truly imaginative mind and he has proven it numerous times but I can't help but think he expanded this story before he got a handle on it whether its been in his head for 20 years or not (wondering if he liked Gwildors gadget on Masters of the Universe movie also). His epilogue with Wit and Odium felt kinda like an apology to me. I'm still a huge fan but I may have to get a synopsis of this story instead of trying to go along for the ride from here on out. Good luck to anyone staying on the path.

I STILL consider this world to be about Atticus as he is just such a broad character to put in any situation. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did and I'm very glad this is the case. There is plenty of world to be inhabited around The Iron Druid so I'm glad Hearne decided to fill in the map while not straying too far. Familiar but new is how id describe the characters with a problem to solve that will generate a few more stories, let's just hope ol Fierce Druid stays out of the picture.

I really don't understand what people complain about with these books. As long as the plot can keep moving forward in some semblance of continuity, im happy to let them go on indefinitely. I enjoyed the base story AND the Mavericks. With the exception of cliffhanger endings, these books are perfect for enjoying a jaunt outside of reality for a few hours. Thank you to everyone involved but especially Alanson and Bray. The outtakes at the end should be in every book.

Story
After the Renegade mission by the crew of the starship Flying Dutchman, the UN Expeditionary Force thought Earth was safe for hundreds of years, at least. After there was trouble on the home front and the president had to authorize a nuclear strike on an American city, UNEF decided they did need the Merry Band of Pirates again. So, the Flying Dutchman is sent out on a simple recon mission. But for the pirates, nothing is ever simple, and their mission will become Armageddon.

I'm thankful Allanson is still able to keep me glued to my earphones even after all of these characters accomplishments. There's plenty of what you expect and more than enough mystery to keep the gang wary of what they'll find around the next corner. Perfect narration from Bray. It's so lifting to find great scifi without an author trying to cram their political ideology into the readers head.

Not a Tyrus Rechs bounty story
Reviewed: 11-05-19
This book didnt fit with the Tyrus from ANY of the previous body of work that is Galaxy's Edge. He runs off to protect Legionnaires that get in a bad spot even thought that crap happens all the time and he's killed more than a few himself when he had to. Tyrus is way to personally invested in random protests for a guy who has been sick of it all and is just waiting for whatever to show up on the Edge in keeping with his promise to Casper. Political mumbo jumbo pops up in his head and every other service member at times that make no sense and even the gun fights were off as he is rampaging through bad guys with his hand cannon but apparently sound doesnt travel around corners in this book. It was Nick Cole going full anti liberal rant every chance he got. He did the same thing in Cult Pop Warlord and ruined that book for me too. It tries to correct course in the last 3rd of the book but not enough for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed this production. There were scenes acted out that just dont translate to audio drama (trying to stay hidden which is suspiciously like hearing nothing) but I can now say that I laugh when I hear someone snapping their fingers repeatedly. If you haven't heard any of the audiobooks then skip this and go start over, otherwise, dive right in.

Great writing
Reviewed: 07-15-19
I like the story, the delivery and the finally moving plot. I understand a writer's choice to put the reader behind the eyes of someone who can gradually figure out what's going on. I hate when they choose teens and not because of the ready mix of naivete and confidence but because these characters are calling the shots to people far more skilled, and capable than themselves and it makes NO sense for the most part. There is juuust enough authority (teachers and supposed government officials) that it gets pretended like the main protagonists have restrictions but that authority never seems to be able to actually assert itself. These guys are pretty much free to do and go wherever they want or wherever someone decides to take them. The characters are developing steadily and the plot finally got to a point that was interesting so I overlook alot of the instances that annoy me in most books like this. Looking forward to the next one.
