Story
She and her assistant, Caz, a magically sentient spider plant, have spent the last eleven years sequestered among the empire’s most precious spellbooks, preserving their magic for the city’s elite. But when a revolution begins and the library goes up in flames, she and Caz save as many books as they can carry and flee to a faraway island Kiela was sure she’d never return to: her childhood home.

The warm and fuzzies were incredible. Enough tension to keep it interesting, but not enough to make the story dark. Just cozy and lovely

The performance

It seems as though everyone is rating this book due to Anne’s narration. However I would dare anyone who has listened to the Kushiel series (author: Jacqueline Carey) to say that she is an inadequate narrator. This is a voice actor that is perhaps slightly unconventional in tone, but makes up for in both perfect pronunciation and feeling. Do not let the reviews based on narration discourage you if you are actually interested in the plot line. (Which is also amazing, in case anyone was wondering)
