Story
If it weren’t for Emma Johnson, Caryn Johnson would have never become Whoopi Goldberg. Emma gave her children the loving care and wisdom they needed to succeed in life, always encouraging them to be true to themselves. When Whoopi lost her mother in 2010—and then her older brother, Clyde, five years later—she felt deeply alone; the only people who truly knew her were gone. Emma raised her children not just to survive, but to thrive. In this intimate and heartfelt memoir, Whoopi shares many of the deeply personal stories of their lives together for the first time.

This was such a lovely tribute to loved ones and beautifully read by Whoopi. I'm glad I listened to it instead of reading. Very well done and entertaining read!

Story
In my book, you will meet a little girl named Viola who ran from her past until she made a life-changing decision to stop running forever. This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose but also my voice in a world that didn’t always see me.

This book gave me a lot of insight and perspective about my loss. While the pain is here to stay, there's much more beyond that. The narration is very soothing and lovely. Definitely putting the book on replay.

Realistic, relatable and non preachy

This is the first grief book I've come across that is very realistic about the grief process for parents. It also doesn't make me feel like I'm being preached to. Hearing the journey of other parents and their perspective was very helpful. I'm reading it all over again and probably will keep it on auto play for a while.

Story
Spirit Sisters was inspired by the scores of women who would preface their stories with, 'I've hardly told anyone this, but...' The journalist would scratch the surface, and their stories would tumble out; they'd given up the ghost, so to speak. In Spirit Sisters you'll meet Australian women of all ages who share their very personal encounters with the supernatural.
