Historia
Through these 10 lectures, you will delve into the darkness of Poe’s most nightmarish stories, including “The Tell-Tale Heart”, “The Pit and the Pendulum”, and “The Fall of the House of Usher”. You’ll also learn how he invented the detective story and explored themes of love and loss in such poems as “Ulalume” and “Annabel Lee”. And you’ll discover how Poe employed symbolism, imagery, rhythm and rhyme, irony and paradox, repetition, simile, and foreshadowing to create a unique body of work.

NOT WHAT I EXPECTED
Revisado: 10-31-21
Being a fan of EAP for the past 50 years, I expected discussions of short stories by this self-proclaimed (often) expert. Not so. This is a biography of Poe's mostly non-successes. The author/narrator fancies himself an actor, and interjects quotes in a voice that is not appreciable, but laughably amateurish.

Historia
The liberation of Europe and the destruction of the Third Reich is a story of courage and enduring triumph, of calamity and miscalculation. In this first volume of the Liberation Trilogy, Rick Atkinson shows why no modern learner can understand the ultimate victory of the Allied powers without a grasp of the great drama that unfolded in North Africa in 1942 and 1943. That first year of the Allied war was a pivotal point in American history, the moment when the United States began to act like a great power.

NOT FOR AUDIO CONSUMPTION
Revisado: 03-22-21
Mr . Atkinson presents an admirable work of soldierly research flavored with excellent prose.
Sadly, his oeuvre is wasted in being an audio production. Considering the parade of unfamiliar names, geography, and tactics, the book must be enjoyed in print, with adequate maps. The great book is especially diminished by unfamiliar places, especially with Arabic names.

Attraction Misrepresented, Performance Irritating
Revisado: 02-26-21
The worst narration in my experience on Audible. The "Western Twang" is suitable for character dialogue, but as narration it offends the ears. Could not listen beyond 9 painful chapters (to give it a fair trial).
Supposedly, I thought, this was about submarine warfare--no it was not. The rickety sub is merely another character in drug war, et al.

Even having hundreds of closed cases to his credit can't keep LAPD police lieutenant Milo Sturgis from agonizing over the crimes that don't get solved - and the victims who go without justice. Victims like Katherine Hennepin, a young woman strangled and stabbed in her home. A single suspect with a solid alibi leads to a dead end - one even Alex Delaware's expert insight can't explain. The only thing to do is move on to the next murder case - because there's always a next one.

DESULTORY
Revisado: 11-12-20
Dr.JK. has"lasied-out" on this novella. He has certainly made sure to include the recognizable ingredients of his Alex Delaware-Milo Sturgis series. The result is a soldierly reading of a recipe of immiscible ingredients. Recall: almost solitary scenes of
Milo the gourmand, Robin's quality woodworking, only one mention of Blanche (and not even her cuteness), the Koy, Moses and Binche, the Seville, etc al.
At this point one must tread slowly in considering another venture into Dr. JK.

Mr Snyder is a complete reportory company by himself. Gender, accent, state of mind: no problem. Mark Greaney never disappoints as the Gray Man continues to amaze, just beyond reality, but with verisimilitude nevertheless. Enjoy.

Parallel lives mirror C19 novels in C21 context. However farfetched is the ending, this oeuvre demonstrates skill and workmanship. I have not previously enjoyed Mr Rosenberg's work, but am inclined to find more.

Decker and ??Lazarus
Revisado: 06-15-20
Once again, Mr Greenberg's narration is top drawer.
A significant style that attracts one to this series is the integration of Rina, Sammy, Jacob, Hannah, and Cindy as growing, real characters. Aside from bare mentions, they take no place in this work--and diminishly so in these later works.
Ms Kellerman has stretched this story with empty filler to the tune of about 25%.
So sad...
