Historia
2039: The Russians didn't use the big nukes. The ongoing Third World War has left parts of Europe in ruins. Into the chaos steps the Second Alliance, a multinational eager to impose its own kind of New World Order. In the United States - in FirStep, the vast space colony and on the artificial island Freezone - the SA shoulders its way to power, spinning a dark web of media manipulation, propaganda, and infiltration.

Didn't; COULDN'T finish.
Revisado: 01-21-22
The original edition is supposedly a classic in the cyberpunk genre. This one suffers from a misguided attempt at updating the technology and society of the past, to a more contemporary one. It didn't work, and if anything, it makes the book even more dated. Also, the prose ranges from poor to barely adequate; how this could be considered a classic is beyond me.

Better than average
Revisado: 01-21-22
Narrator does a fine job of bringing this otherwise so-so story to life. Was entertained most of the time, and didn't regret listening, but I won't give it another whirl anytime soon.

Riveting!

Thoroughly enjoyable, kept making excuses to go for walks so I could listen more. Emily Woo Zeller did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life!

Historia
The Praxis, the empire of now extinct Shaa, has again fallen into civil war, with desperate and outnumbered humans battling alien species for survival. Leading the human forces are star-crossed lovers Gareth Martinez and Caroline Sula, who must find a way to overcome their own personal history to defeat the aliens and assure humanity’s survival. But even if the human fleet is victorious, the divisions fracturing the empire may be too wide to repair, as battles between politicians, the military, and fanatics who want to kill every alien threaten to further tear the empire apart.

Be forewarned!
Revisado: 09-11-21
Whilst the story is an excellent continuation of the series, which leaves you impatient for more, the decision to replace the narrator of the previous books is baffling.
His performance seldom rises above a disinterested monotone, and apart from a character who is supposed to lisp heavily, all characters sound identical. The end result is like having a slightly lisping "Noo Yawk" Eeyore narrating a text-book.
One can only hope that further sequels, and this book, are (re-)released with mr. Drummond as the narrator
