Story
The year is 1739. Eliza Lucas is sixteen years old when her father leaves her in charge of their family’s three plantations in rural South Carolina and then proceeds to bleed the estates dry in pursuit of his military ambitions. Tensions with the British, and with the Spanish in Florida, just a short way down the coast, are rising, and slaves are starting to become restless. Her mother wants nothing more than for their South Carolina endeavor to fail so they can go back to England. Soon her family is in danger of losing everything.

It is nice to read about women in history making a difference to her community! This book was not a sappy love story but was filled with desires: to prove yourself, to succeed, for freedom, for recognition, for knowledge, and love. This was a good read!

Story
In the summer of 1937, Amelia Earhart is the most famous woman in the world - a record-breaking pilot, a best-selling author, and a modern woman shattering the glass ceiling in the early days of aviation. And then she vanishes. In Tampa, Florida, 15-year-old Lizzie Friedlander spends her afternoons glued to her father’s radio, tapping into the enormity of a world she longs to travel. Lizzie can hardly believe her ears when she picks up a radio signal from a faraway source that sets her heart racing: “Amelia Earhart calling SOS!”

I loved this story. I only wish it was longer!
Reviewed: 03-07-20
I was intrigued to learn a tiny bit about Amelia Erhart and early flight history. I loved the use of short wave radio so few people in modern America realize how far around the world you can communicate with this archaic technology! I do wish the end would not have been cut so short. The end just felt abrupt!
The performance was well done. I am glad i down loaded this story.

Story
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Alongside the winged Aerians and the immortal Barrani, she's made a place for herself, far from the mean streets of her birth.
