Historia
Deadlock, V. I. Warshawski’s second case, involves the huge Great Lakes shipping industry. Once again the subject is murder - this time the “accidental death” of Boom-Boom Warshawski, an ex-hockey star and V. I.’s beloved cousin, who fell - or was pushed - off a rain-slicked pier on Chicago’s busy waterfront. Convinced that Boom-Boom was in fact killed because of information he had uncovered about criminal doings on the shipping lines, V. I. begins a long and frustrating search for her cousin’s murderer.

Good story narrated well
Revisado: 03-04-23
Ms Paretsky’s books are always good, and Ms Ericksen’s narration adds a nice shine to them.

A little over the top
Revisado: 02-20-23
I enjoyed the book and thought the audiobook would be a great way to revisit it. The story was still good but the narration went a little over the top at times. It was more like a performance, my least favorite style of audiobook.

The unthinkable has occurred in the kingdom of Lyonya. The queen of the Elves - known as the Lady - is dead, murdered by former elves twisted by dark powers. Now the Lady’s half-elven grandson must heal the mistrust between elf and human before their enemies strike again. Yet as he struggles to make ready for an attack, an even greater threat looms across the Eight Kingdoms.Throughout the north, magic is reappearing after centuries of absence, emerging without warning in family after family - rich and poor alike.

First book I’ve ever wanted to return
Revisado: 06-15-19
I enjoyed reading this book, and was very disappointed by how much the narration detracted from the story. The narrator mispronounced many place and character names that could have been learned by listening to any of the previous books in the series. The way she inflected sentences was also distracting. Made it difficult to enjoy the book.
