In a land ruled by ruthless Fae, twenty-one-year-old Lore Alemeyu’s village is trapped in a forested prison. Lore knows that any escape attempt is futile—her scars are a testament to her past failures. But when her village is threatened, Lore makes a desperate deal with a Fae lord. She will leave her home to catalog/organize an enchanted library that hasn’t been touched in a thousand years. No Fae may enter the library, but there is a chance a human might be able to breach the cursed doors.

Can't wait for the next
Reviewed: 11-08-24
Oh how I fell in love with this black fantasy book. I was really starting to feel like there weren't enough of them out there. Then I stumbled across this gem. I felt connected with the characters and it was really just everything I asked for. The romance, the magic, it was everything I needed and more!

Staying in the bunker isn't an option, because the Americans are threatening to nuke the entire area. Grey is regaining pieces of his humanity, but a rescue team won't trust him. Or make space for her Great Dane, Schroddie. And Jane won't leave either of them behind.

It’s an ordinary Monday. Until everything changes forever. At 2:44 PM, a mysterious crack appears in the sky. Anyone unfortunate enough to look up is immediately struck blind. What’s worse, their mind is wiped clean, replaced with a vicious urge to kill anyone within reach. Mark is at work when it happens. Fighting not to fall asleep, the boring department meeting suddenly turns into a bloodbath when people are drawn to the windows to look up at the sky.

horrible writing
Reviewed: 10-03-24
I started off excited about the book but as time went on I began to dread it. the writer would forget things he previously stated and basically change the story. he brought people back to life for stupid reasons. I just did not enjoy it. the narrator was excellent though which made it a little more tolerable. if you are looking for a linear story this is not it. some things just didn't make sense because he went back on things he wrote

Story
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

I love isekai anime and when I read the summary I knew I had to have it. I have been on this series. it's all I can think about. I love the characters and how they are built. It feels so much like dungeons and dragons. I just pre-ordered 10 and I am on 8 now but oh my gosh the emotional rollercoaster the series sends you on!

Story
For the first time ever, the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society has produced an audio recording of all of Lovecraft's stories. These are not dramatizations like our Dark Adventure Radio Theatre - rather, this is an audiobook of the original stories, in all-new, never-before-heard recordings made by the HPLHS' own Andrew Leman and Sean Branney exclusively for this collection. This collection spans his entire career from his earliest surviving works of childhood to stories completed shortly before his death. All tales include original music by HPLHS composer Troy Sterling Nies.

not horror
Reviewed: 08-22-23
I really disliked this. I have 23 hours left and can't stand to listen for a moment longer. there is nothing horror about any of the books or stories. I was left bored. I tried so hard to force myself to finish this but found myself cringing every time. then I reached a story about a freaking name and was done. the fact that this character had such a long name and the story appeared to be an explanation of said name drove me mad. I just turned it off. I am usually not a quitter but, my goodness this was too horrible to stand. that's the only horror about it. :/

This book starts slow but ends strong. I was pulled into the story. The idea of having representation in a fantasy novel is what brought me here. Being on TikTok and finding black authors promoting their books. and also fans. they brought me here and now I want more.

Story
Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

It was looking like Lady Luck had quite a grudge against him. In fact, at this point merely crashing the multi-billion-dollar ship he had helped design would have felt like winning the lottery compared to his current dilemma. If only he were so lucky. Things had started off all right - that is, until a freak wormhole unexpectedly swallowed his ship, leaving him stranded on an unknown planet far, far from home.
