Another case of a Black library author who is very inconsistent in his writing. I went into the book knowing ADB is a bottom shelf 40k author. The one instance that will never leave my brain is when he had two guardsmen drag a dead space marine's body to safety, in the middle of a massive firefight. Just before they did, one of the guardsmen took the marine's helmet off and found it unexpectedly very very heavy. His writing is cheeky and stereotypical with a hint of disgruntled nerd ie, another imperial character who's backstory was, he drinks because of his ex wife whom he calls the cheating bitch? You ok Aaron? I wont spoil the ending but let me just say, plot armor is stronger than any known metal in the galaxy. Other than that, it's Black Templars, they're awesome. It's the war for Armageddon, awesome. It's 40k blood and guts, that's what we're for.

Truly, once you get past the first half of Way Kings and the powerful locomotive engine that is this series is in full motion it can't be stopped. I am not a fantasy reader, save Tolkien and The Witcher series, but I care very deeply about the world and characters. A world that has anime/fantasy tropes such as oversized weapons and Cadillac slick superhuman armor dripping with flair which I normally find corny but it makes sense in The Stormlight Archive and I love it. Now excuse me while I immediately begin book 3

A devastating virus wipes out 99% of humanity and this book tells the story of just a handful of people who were somehow immune. A book that moves at a moderate pace, there isn't much action in it but the dialogue backed by a tremendous narrator really is what drives the book. This isnt your typical mad max scenario. It's a wonderful and fascinating look into what real people would do in this situation, and it's all believable. Great listen

As a first time aspiring DM to the world of Eberron this book definitely helps pull back the veil to the rather unconventional world of Eberron opposed to regular d&d settings. The narrator stands out brightly though, his skill is AAA hollywood quality voice acting.
