Historia
Here in a single volume is the entire, unabridged recording of Gibbon's masterpiece. Beginning in the second century A.D. at the apex of the Pax Romana, Gibbon traces the arc of decline and complete destruction through the centuries across Europe and the Mediterranean. It is a thrilling and cautionary tale of splendor and ruin, of faith and hubris, and of civilization and barbarism. Follow along as Christianity overcomes paganism... before itself coming under intense pressure from Islam.

Worth it!
Revisado: 07-11-22
It took me 5 months but what an education it provided me! His vocabulary and grammar alone make this must for an English teacher.
Gibbon is supremely comprehensive and far less cynical than his reputation.

Historia
One of the foremost achievements in Western literature, Homer's Iliad tells the story of the darkest episode in the Trojan War. At its center is Achilles, the greatest warrior-champion of the Greeks, and his refusal to fight after being humiliated by his leader, Agamemnon.

Pope's masterful verse translation comes to life
Revisado: 08-14-20
I find myself wishing that Michael Page also did Pope's Odyssey. This was such a fun 65 hours. Often I would rewind and relisten to the most beautiful parts.

Historia
After a century of civil strife in Rome and Italy, the poet Virgil wrote The Aeneid to honor the emperor Augustus by praising Aeneas, Augustus's legendary ancestor. As a patriotic epic imitating Homer, The Aeneid also set out to provide Rome with a literature equal to that of Greece.

Page brings Dryden's genuis to life.
Revisado: 04-08-20
I found myself rewinding many times to relisten to Dryden's classics lines and metaphors. Michael Page reads like a Shakespearean actor.
