Story
When an older guy with a dirty grin and an expensive suit flirts with me from the next barstool, I don’t realize I’m about to have a one-night stand with the man I desperately want to work for. After a night that leaves my world (and body) shaken, I start my summer job housekeeping in a five-star hotel even though I’m determined to kickstart my career in tech. As I dust and polish the Park Suite, in walks Mr. Dirty Grin—now with an icy glare.

I made it through the 2nd chapter. That’s it. I don’t like male main characters that talk down to others and everyone rolls over, including the female main character. Maybe it gets better as the book goes on, but it was so outlandish, combined with the female narrator’s “male” voice, i couldn’t continue.

If miscommunication or heroines not listening before reacting is one of your frustrations with romance books, do not read this one. I repeat, do not read, or at least be prepared to skim 60% off the book. Also the female narrator’s child voice was grating. I usually love Max Monroe books, but this was a solid miss for me.

Character development was rough. I didn’t like anyone and wasn’t rooting for a happy ending. Kept skipping forward to see if anyone evolved and was sadly disappointed.

I'm the wrong guy for her. She's sunshine and cherry pie. I'm whiskey and fast cars. I'm also keeping one hell of a secret from the woman I've wanted for years. But when I find a list my sister left behind for Ruby, I've got no choice but to offer the sexy, big-hearted girl next door both a road trip and a chance. A chance to discover how big she can dream.

Listen, I love those authors. But this book was a struggle bus for me to get through. I did not care about the characters at all. Will they get together? Who cares?

So I listen to books on my commute. With this one, I'm pretty sure all those who saw me think I'm psycho. The book is hilarious, but it's the narrators that really push this over the edge. Especially the guy. Do they give awards for narration? This guy should win. No contest. I was crying with laughter. I wish all narrators got as in touch with the characters as he did.

I enjoyed the first half of the book. Well, maybe enjoy is too strong a word, but it wasn't end the book and return it horrible. I got into it. That is, until the end. I hate books where, spoiler alert, women turn into whiners and connivers at the end of the book. I'm sorry, you're telling him a relationship is nothing without trust? Where was her trust in him? Gag. It's not supposed to be a one way street. Whatever. First half of the book? Enjoyable. Second half of the book? Not so much. Read or listen if you're okay with whiney women.
