Story
A first-date dud, socially awkward, and overly fond of quick-dry clothes, genetics professor Don Tillman has given up on love, until a chance encounter gives him an idea. He will design a questionnaire to uncover the perfect partner. She will most definitely not be a barmaid, a smoker, a drinker or a late-arriver. Rosie is all these things. She is also fiery and intelligent, strangely beguiling, and looking for her biological father - a search that a DNA expert might just be able to help her with.

Good narration, the character was endearing. Refreshing to be narrated by that unique perspective.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

The narrator did an excellent job on this one, very believable that this is the character, like a good casting call in a movie.

Story
Superintelligence asks the questions: What happens when machines surpass humans in general intelligence? Will artificial agents save or destroy us? Nick Bostrom lays the foundation for understanding the future of humanity and intelligent life. The human brain has some capabilities that the brains of other animals lack. It is to these distinctive capabilities that our species owes its dominant position. If machine brains surpassed human brains in general intelligence, then this new superintelligence could become extremely powerful - possibly beyond our control.

A very in-depth (yet tidious) analysis of AI

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The first quarter of the book tells everything the author is trying to get across. After that I'm pretty sure Nick was being paid by the word by the publisher. Still, made it through and gained some new insight on the subject. To say that the writing style is ostentatious is an understatement. For example, where Nick Bostrom might write, "We as homo-sapiens who after many millennia have mutated an olfactory sense often repelled by the effluvium caused by one or more volatilized compounds commonly found containing chemical element with symbol S and atomic number 16, thus, find displeasure to this sensitivity when such elements are present in a polar inorganic compound of H2O, and therefore associate the noxious experience to a similarity of a spoiled domestic fowl's organic vessel containing the zygote in which the embryo develops."... or, as you and I may say, "That water smells gross, like rotten eggs."

A few unnecessary ostentatious tangents from Dan Brown, otherwise a good thrill and entertaining. Be prepared for a lot of academic filler that takes away from the plot.
