Story
Detective Lauren Pengelly has only been part of the Penzance police force for less than two years, but that’s enough time to know that the sleepy Cornish town doesn’t see many murders. So, when the bones of a woman with a hole in her skull are discovered behind a derelict cottage, she immediately assumes the worst. Rallying her team, Lauren is flooded with a strange sense of relief when the bones turn out to be almost twenty years old, not a recent victim. But it quickly turns to dread when she receives her second heart-stopping call of the day–a little girl, Isla, has been kidnapped.

Not Walker
Reviewed: 09-08-24
Okay, if listened to all of the Walker & Cavendish Novels which I’ve really enjoyed. I loved that Sally pulled the other characters into this book from the last Cavendish & Walker series however if she wanted to make you want to unlike the main character she did a good job. I really didn’t care for her at all. What a miserable person. She was no Walker I have to say that. Maybe it’s because she wasn’t Walker and it’s me that just can’t change the Heroine. In the end Pengelly was slightly tolerable but still…no Walker.

Story
When an esteemed criminology professor is found lifeless at an international conference, it's up to DCI Whitney Walker and forensic psychologist Dr. Georgina Cavendish to unravel the mystery. The professor had unveiled Death's Shadow—a ground-breaking but unsettling theory that could redefine the understanding of serial killers. The theory captivated yet unnerved scholars, leaving a lingering air of dread within the conference halls. When another delegate meets a gruesome end, it becomes horrifyingly clear: the conference has become a hunting ground.

Sally Rigby & Clare Corbett did it again, without a shadow of doubt, smashing good writing & narrating. Great story, Walker & Cavendish kicking ass & taking names… it’s always the quiet ones.
Love the Frank & Doug banter, just missed Ross could have had a bit of a bigger part but, overall great book! Sally hope you have some more breathtaking stories soon.

This book I didn’t think measured even close to the last one but, I did enjoy Whitney and George becoming closer friends, I love their different personalities. On to the next!

I loved the push and pull relationship between George and Whitney. Can’t wait to enjoy each of the books to follow.
