Story
Logan Tom is doomed to remember the past and determined to rescue the future. Far behind him lies a boyhood cut violently short by his family’s slaughter, when the forces of madness and hate swept our world after decadent excesses led to civilization’s downfall. Somewhere ahead of him rests the only chance to beat back the minions of evil that are systematically killing and enslaving the last remnants of humanity.

Merging of Series! *chefs kiss*
Reviewed: 04-17-24
Can’t even begin to say how much this middle series bringing the two worlds together has formulated a lot of my joys of fantasy in my head. I read it when it first came out and just listened for the first time. For some it might seem slow, but everything is setting up either merging the past with the present or prepping for the future. So good.
Now.. the narration.. I couldn’t give it a one star but the guy has a great story telling voice. HOWEVER… Panther and Angel…. accents like he was portraying shouldn’t have gotten out of the first cut… super sus/stereotypical, especially for being released in 2022… I will say I don’t understand the softness other people said, I was able to hear just fine the whole time without headphones.
Regardless!! Was a good listen, the next one sounds way more appropriate!

Story
In The Wind Through the Keyhole, Stephen King has returned to the rich landscape of Mid-World. This story within a story within a story finds Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, in his early days during the guilt-ridden year following his mother’s death. Sent by his father to investigate evidence of a murderous shape-shifter, a "skin-man", Roland takes charge of Bill Streeter, a brave but terrified boy who is the sole surviving witness to the beast’s most recent slaughter.

I have been making my way through the series from start to finish and wanted to listen to this between 4 and 5, however, it wasn’t even listenable. I found it extremely hard to follow due to King’s voice. I wanted to like it but about half way through I realized I hadn’t been able to keep track of what I’m the world was going on. It’s probably a great book, but I honestly couldn’t tell you right now one detail about it after hours of listening. I’ve submitted it for a return.

Story
For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.

Don’t Read Reviews! (I almost returned by chapter 4!)
Reviewed: 03-14-21
So I know many people probably say this but, please ignore the bad reviews here. I almost fell for them myself, and that’s because the book does start pretty weird... it kind of shoves and entire world at you all at once, and felt overwhelming and just confusing. But if you keep listening, there’s actually a very interesting dynamic here.. you aren’t really supposed to know what everything means or what everyone is doing, as the book goes on you get more and more clues and hints that start filling in the gaps until the last few chapters where everything “snaps” into place ;)
Give it a listen, ride the wave of uncertainty at the beginning and enjoy the amazingly built world and events that follow!

Awaken Online is a brand new virtual reality game that just hit the market, promising an unprecedented level of immersion. Yet Jason quickly finds himself pushed down a path he didn't expect. In this game, he isn't the hero. There are no damsels to save. There are no bad guys to vanquish.

It was a different point of view, good to find something where the character isn’t necessarily good. My biggest problem is that compared to books like The Land, there just isn’t a lot of LitRPG depth. It’s more of a story about someone playing a video game than actually living that game.
That paired with the painfully slow narrator made the book not as good as it could be. Looking forward to the future books in hopes they improve.
Note. If you speed up the book to 1.25 it fixes the dull voice of the narrator somewhat. He’s just not that exciting :/ sorry guy!

Story
In The Land: Predators, the Mist Village has harnessed its power. With core buildings, professional fighters, and now their own dungeon, the settlement is primed to grow into a kingdom of true power and magic. The path to power has not been without risk, however. The MistVillage has been noticed. Evil nobles from the Kingdom of Law, bloodthirsty goblins from the Serrated Mountains, an undead lord with a penchant for human sacrifice, and fanatical kobolds from the Depths all plot the village's destruction.

I can’t stop listening to these books! So good! I think my only critique is that there is a lot of repetitive “his eyes bulged!” And “it was the most amazing thing he’s ever seen!” Hahah, just a little more creativity for the wonders in this world would be the only improvement I like to see! But doesn’t drop it from 5 stars at all!
