Story
From the writer of The Pope Lick Massacre, The Shadow Within, and The Rest Stop comes Eric Butler's next extreme tale. Danny’s wife, Janet, is throwing her annual Halloween get together at the family cabin, and Mike is looking to blow off some steam. Sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll … just like the old days when they did anything they wanted. Except, it’s not the old days, and Janet has a list of rules for them to follow. Lucky for Mike, Danny’s given them a way around all that. A place they can go to have a little fun. A place they call ... The Grove.

first, I want to say how much I love the cover. sexy with a hint of darkness. who doesn't enjoy a good Halloween party?
unless it's an extreme slasher story and you're on the wrong side of the invite. then maybe you wouldn't. or maybe you would. am I being too vague? too cryptic? probably. but it's only 44 pages or about an hour of listening, you you'll have to read/ listen for yourself to get a dose of Eric Butler and how he can spin a good time into a bloody romp. I rec this story to fans of the extreme slasher genre

Great voice
Reviewed: 01-06-25
I will say that the narrator was great. Words were spoken clearly, and weren't spoken so fast that I had a heard time understnding. A little background about me, 30+ years ago I took a 3 month Spanish class. And I needed a refresher. I never was in any way a conversationlist, but I knew terms and phrases and words. This was more of a refresher for me. A mega refresher. I also liked that this audio version came with a PDF, but I found it awkward and hard to use from my phone. That is no reflection on the author of this book. It's me. I'm not very tech savvy and my eye sight has aged with me. I found it easier to use my laptop and utilize the PDF in that way. In some parts of the book I didn't always have my laptop in front of me (yeah, also my fault) and then I had a hard time flipping pages to keep up with my progress. That's why the 4 star rating and not a 5. I'm still not a conversationalist in Spanish, but I did pick up on some key words/ phrases that I will find useful in the future. I would recommend this to people who are beginning their journey into a new language

All Kurt Reedy needed for his lakeside development project to go through was the land owned by Chuck Miller. The only problem was Miller refused to sell his family’s legacy. In the past, Reedy may have resorted to violence to get his way, but he was a legit businessman now.

Of course I've read the book (both versions and prefer this one), but listening to it offers a whole new level of fear and dread to this atmospheric story. I love how Butler has consitently used Micah Cottingham to voice several of his stories.... It's wonderful not only watching a writer find his writing style and voice throughout the past few years, but also Cottingham. Each time I listen to her voice new words, I've really admired her growth

Sex and violence? Yes please... two of my favorite things to read about... At first, having a demon sex slave was super hot... It actually is still hot, until they start doing demon things and like try to unalive you... Who doesn't love fiction and reading about super sexy beings with double dingalings? That's the great thing about fictional worlds, anything is possible.
I was lucky to get an Audible code for this listen.. I loved this voice and he could truly perform. Whether it was sultry, or violent, the voice glided seamlessly in between the scenes and I felt like I was in the story.. my fave voice was the store owner for some reason and I'm not sure why? maybe because it displayed the narrator's range.. 5 stars. Fun times...

I devoured this short in Aydible form and loved how the voice was a true performer with a wide range and a skilled way of making the characters come alive. This is a story about children, and I'm obviously not a child, but it did take me back to the days of trick or treating. A quick listen, but still fun

when a story is this short it's hard to really develop characters, but this one did it as best as possible in the fewest words. the ending was totally unexpected

how can you rate reality anything less than 5 stars? it's not like the author has control of events if they happened irl.

Full disclosure: I read the ebook prior
Reviewed: 05-30-24
Like I stated, I'd already read the ebook, but sometimes listening to a story gives it that special extra feeling.
Especially when I listened to a sample and really enjoyed the voice of the story, I knew that I really, really wanted to listen to this one.
If it's a book that I've read, I'm guilty about turning on my headphones and doing other stuff... Mostly, not giving the listen 100percent attention, but this one I learned did hold my attention more than the other stuff I was doin (washing dishes, feeding the dogs etc...).. Great way to help pass the time....
I highly recommend this story, and recommend it even more for a listen
