Historia
By July 1914, the ties between Kezia Marchant and Thea Brissenden, friends since girlhood, have become strained - by Thea's passionate embrace of women's suffrage, and by the imminent marriage of Kezia to Thea's brother, Tom, who runs the family farm. When Kezia and Tom wed, just a month before war is declared between Britain and Germany, Thea's gift to Kezia is a book on household management - a veiled criticism of the bride's prosaic life to come.

I loved this story- it was an audio listen. Narration was wonderful and the story gripping. It takes place in WW1 and the sense of time and place is well set, the characters fleshed out and believable. I don't want to give anything away but will say I was surprised by the many twists and turns of the novel and moved the ending.

Back to origins?
Revisado: 05-27-17
I felt this installment in series was better than the last couple of books. And the stage is clearly set for future developments with the introduction of new characters I expect will be met again.

A lovely listen
Revisado: 04-28-17
Moving a bit more deeply into Buddhist thought and experience than Breakfast with Buddha, this was delightful. The description of Otto's retreat was so realistic- the discomfort, the stream of thought - reminded me of my own experiences. Lots to learn and think about under the narrative.

A good tale but stretched out too much
Revisado: 10-27-15
Enjoyed the story, but some sequences went on and on, longer than necessary to the plot. Having read/listened to other books in this series it was fun to hear the beginning.

Historia
Dellarobia Turnbow is a restless farm wife who gave up her own plans when she accidentally became pregnant at 17. Now, after a decade of domestic disharmony on a failing farm, she encounters a shocking sight: a silent, forested valley filled with what looks like a lake of fire. She can only understand it as a cautionary miracle, but it sparks a raft of other explanations from scientists, religious leaders, and the media.

Mesmerizing listen
Revisado: 02-06-13
Where does Flight Behavior rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I loved this story, and the author's narration drew me in right from the start. Each character had a unique voice. It worked for me on so many levels- how the characters developed, the way it addressed climate change.
Who was your favorite character and why?
In some ways I think my favorite character was Hester, the main character's mother in law. Her revelations helped move the Dellarobia along her own path.
Which character – as performed by Barbara Kingsolver – was your favorite?
Dellarobia's developmental arc kept me rooting for her. Ovid was so alive and vivid.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was moved by the scene of the birth of the lamb, and felt it gave voice to the unspoken aspects of Cub and Dellarobia's stillbirth- it was as if this let them share their grief.
Any additional comments?
I loved the way Dellarobia told her son of the upcoming changes in their life?
