Historia
You may have studied the ancient Persian Empire in school, but have you ever wondered what kinds of stories the ancient Persians told to themselves and their children? The roots of Persian myth extend back more than five thousand years to the culture of the Aryan people who migrated into Iran from India. Ideas from this ancient culture have enjoyed amazing longevity and are alive even today as part of the Zoroastrian faith, which is still practiced in Iran, India, and several other places around the world.

I enjoyed the tales of Rostam most. He was like the Persian Heracles. Also interesting how some of the Persian enemies were demonized.

Historia
Combing through 70 years of comic books, television shows, and movies, Batman and Philosophy explores how the Dark Knight grapples with ethical conundrums, moral responsibility, his identity crisis, the moral weight he carries to avenge his murdered parents, and much more. How does this caped crusader measure up against the teachings of Plato, Aristotle, Kant, Kierkegaard, and Lao Tzu?

Boring and Twisted Reasoning to justify immorality.

He lost me when he automatically assumed the joker is an insane character and shouldn’t be morally held responsible for his actions. Joker seems insane but his darker iterations mostly illustrate that he is a man who wishes to do wicked things to turn people as dark and as twisted as possible. In fact in the Dark Knight he states several times that he is not crazy. He’s very morally aware of what he’s doing.

Historia
As you study the African myths, legends, and folklore through this guide, you will find that there are so many gods and goddesses, and so many different versions of certain stories, that it will blow your mind. The intricate myths in this book have been lined up and collected to help you understand some of the earliest, most ancient beliefs from those living on the African continent. Some have been influential in our day, and some have been completely forgotten except for vague traditions that have been passed on from one generation to the next.

Mistitled and Misinformed
Revisado: 06-26-24
This book has hardly any stories about African mythology. It’s more like a list of some historical facts and has a few mythological characters or themes as subtopics scattered throughout.
Why is there an entire chapter devoted to European colonization of Africa but not an entire chapter devoted to any one African myth? And why is there no division or specification of myths based on regions? African mythology is more or less lumped together in one homogeneous culture although it is recognized that South African folklore is much different than say that of Egypt, Ethiopia, Tunisia, etc.
