A surprising and fun romp

This is an Elizabeth and Darcy story with a lot of new characters. I liked that it wasn’t too much to keep track of and that Elizabeth and Darcy stayed central to the story. I laughed out loud in many places and enjoyed the twist and interns, character development, and social commentary. Excellent narrator.

Take coffee and tea: People around the world rely on caffeine to sharpen their minds. But we do not usually think of caffeine as a drug, or our daily use as an addiction, because it is legal and socially acceptable.

I have read many of Michael Pollan’s books, enjoy his blend of history, investigation, and personal observation. This does not disappoint. Getting to hear it read in the author’s voice is a bonus.

Listening to this changed my mind about a lot of things

I loved the Botany of desire and have always appreciated Michael Pollan’s unique way on blending story, data, and his own personal journey. Being an age mate of his, I related so much to his early biases and fears regarding psychedelic substances. This book changed my mind for sure with it’s fascinating case made for their use with the right set and setting.
