Story
When Monisha Rajesh announced plans to circumnavigate the globe in 80 train journeys, she was met with wide-eyed disbelief. But it wasn’t long before she was carefully plotting a route that would cover 45,000 miles - almost twice the circumference of the earth - coasting along the world’s most remarkable railways; from the cloud-skimming heights of Tibet’s Qinghai railway to silk-sheeted splendour on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. Packing up her rucksack - and her fiancé, Jem, Monisha embarks on an unforgettable adventure.

I heard the author on a podcast. Her voice was so calming yet intriguing and if it’s a book about global travel, I’m hooked. This book did not disappoint and highly recommend to inspire your next journey!

Full of inspiration and wisdom, this book will help students, midcareer professionals, and parents alike forge their own paths to fulfillment.

I first heard the podcast from HBR diving into the jobs to be done and the details on the McDonalds milkshake. This book is an expansion and much deeper dive in defining your life’s purpose in accordance with what is important to you, the reader.

When the Saulnier sisters suffer one disappointment too many in their native France, they decide to pack up and try their luck in America. As journalists, they have the run of the country, following stories that take them to places where most Americans have never been - from the back roads of Appalachia to an underground village of homeless people in the New York City subway system. And along the way, they dine on: Nathan's Famous hot dogs at the annual hot dog-eating contest in Coney Island.

I absolutely love this book! I thought it would be more about the European diet but turns out it’s more about their exploration of America with a “side dish” about the food.

A cure for my wanderlust
Reviewed: 09-06-20
Over the last few months nearly home bound by this pandemic, I have desperately longed for travel, to be transported elsewhere. This book carried me to the south of France. Both in vivid pictures painted with her words and Elizabeth’s voice. It usually takes me a month or more to read - but devoured this in 2 weeks.
