Sequence of events
Reviewed: 04-18-24
I enjoyed The Wild Robot very much. I thought I was original and entertaining. However, The Wild Robot Escapes, although also interesting in the issues it explores, it felt more like a long sequence of events where the only character we really get to know is Roz. This book introduces many new characters, some of them quite interesting and intriguing, but I was left wishing to learn more about each one of them. Overall, is a good enough sequel, but not near as deeply enjoyable and creative as the first book.

Can a robot survive in the wilderness? When robot Roz opens her eyes for the first time, she discovers that she is alone on a remote, wild island. She has no idea how she got there or what her purpose is - but she knows she needs to survive. After battling a violent storm and escaping a vicious bear attack, she realizes that her only hope for survival is to adapt to her surroundings and learn from the island's unwelcoming animal inhabitants. As Roz slowly befriends the animals, the island starts to feel like home - until, one day, the robot's mysterious past comes back to haunt her.

Great story for a road trip!!

This is my first time listening to a Booktrack Edition. I wondered wether I would get tired of the music in the background, but my experiences was totally the opposite! The music transported me to the island with aros and all the animals!! This story makes it perfect for that!
Kate Atwater is a wonderful narrator. Her range of voices for each character makes the story fuller. She really captures each characters unique personality when reading the dialogues.
Peter Brown created a world where a robot teaches us how wonderful it is to have friends, help others and always try your best. I would recommend this audio booktrack edition for road trip with kids. You will enjoy it as much as they will!
