Wonderful Storytelling

Gripping combination of hard sci-fi and speculative fiction.

A bit light to the edge of dissapointing in the character development department, but that is pretty easily forgiven by a few, very well written character moments scattered throughout, especially toward the final climax.

Overall, what a great introduction to Mr. Weir, and that narrator did a spot-on job!

For what it was, the first real, comprehensive exploration into a world struggling against an undead menace, it's a masterpiece.
Though there are many themes and more than a few of the authors own...somewhat naive political leanings that manage to peek through every now and again, that have certainly been exposed in the years since by the events reflected in our own world as rather backwards and regressive; I would still urge readers to try and look past these flaws, and remember they are from a time less aware than our own and take the story for what it is:
A fun, gloomy, and sometimes saddening journey through a world much different, and sometimes, not-so-different, than ours.

The stories themselves were top notch, what a great set of stories from a great set of writers, and above all, what a narrator to tell them! What range, what passion!

It's a spiritual book more than anything.
About how the ignorance and racism we think is unique to the white man's world is present in many cultures, in backwoods Alaska a much as any other.
Abuse of the courts, abuse of the self, abuse of one's own culture.
About how the proverbial "other" often insists on staying that way.

For a war novel, it's rather disappointingly light on the military action, and needlessly heavy on the "romance"
Infidelity is icky subject matter even in the best of circumstances, and this book makes little effort to make it palatable.
Characters go nowhere and the exploration of the alien aspect doesn't go quite as deep as it could have, despite it being painfully clear the author had put alot of thought into them.

Overall it's a great concept undermined by dime store romance writing.

Loved the story, and Broson Pinchots best voice work yet!
Not for the faint hearted.

Great story, great narration, and finally a narrative that really is worth the time and investment.
Not to spoil it, but the story is well worth your time.
Some people may need to open their minds just a bit, but I promise you it's worth it.

Solid writing with excellent world building and exploration.
Wish a few more questions had been answered, but even so, it was very well put together and ended, definitely recommend.

You ever find yourself listening to your friends having a conversation and youre about to add something but before you do, you stop and ask "does this really need to be said?" That's this book.
Robinson has a way with words and descriptions that can take you to other worlds and wonderful places...but the overall narrative here would better be defined as masturbation than a fitting conclusion to an already pretty out-there story.
RC Bray is amazing, as usual, but if you're like me and truly enjoyed Infinite, and are thirsting for more... probably a good idea to check out one of Robinsons other books and let this sleeping dog lie.
