When writers WRITE

I’ve gotten away from urban lit as it’s become saturated and redundant. But something drove me to read this one and I am glad I did. I truly enjoyed this piece as it was well written, and kept my attention start to finish. I liked that the storyline was focused on the dope game but took on the life of a different type of character as well as showing the humanness of those surroundings her. I’m also glad it ended as it did leaving room for a sequel!

Good Story, No to the Male Narrator

I enjoyed this book okay, though rather typical in nature. However, I would have probably enjoyed it more with a different male narrator. By the 2nd chapter I already knew it would be a struggle to finish as his monotone voice was boring. I visualized lips of a comic strip character moving.

As usual, I was thoroughly enthralled in this well written book. Tia's style of writing crosses so many genres and always keeps be tearing pages trying to get to the next. I love a book that catches me with it's opening and never lets it foot off the gas, and that's the kind of writer she is. I'm laughing one second and gasping the next.
Even better is her having chosen the perfect narrator to bring it to life.

As usual, Sabrina B. Scales did not disappoint. She is an absolutely great and fun writer, who weaves tales in a way that you feel like you are a part of the story. You can easily visualize everything that is happening as it is happening and can't wait to find out what is next. This box set of nearly 18 hours, was listened to in just over a week, which is awesome considering my hectic schedule. I mainly listen to books in the car, but this time, I often played it on my home stereo system while cooking and cleaning because it was just that good! Now I am searching through her catalog for my next great listen. Plus, she uses my two favorite narrators. These two chemistry is indescribable.

This book had too much going on and too many people, both men and women, doing too much. I couldn’t keep up abs due to the length every time I cave back to it I had to figure out who was who doing what. I know this happens in real life but it was too much. I forced my way though though.

I snatched this listen up because my two favorite narrators were listed. However, by the time they got back from India, I was drained. The description more and more as the book wore on, became too much and my eyes began to cross. Very long winded and extreme overkill. Only because I wanted to know the ending did I force my way through. I listened to two other books and finished in the process.

I tried to look past the monotone of the narrator and push through the story but it was dragging. Finally by Chpt 12, I gave up.

Loved the Book - Hated the Sudden Ending

I loved this book. I am a huge fan now of Christina C. Jones and love the Inevitable Series. Nubia was a character I wanted to see developed from Book 1 and she delivered. Still, the abruptness of how this book ended, kind of left me disappointed. We went from them making love, a photoshoot with the revealing of the pregnancy, and then bam, a year later. No insight on how the fans received finding out she was pregnant. No birth of the child. No learning of how daddy's heart swelled seeing his son. That was so needed. Either way, I'm moving on to Book 3.

Normally these two narrators together are a match made in heaven, but for this book, I hated the southern belle voice. it irritated me the entire time. The book was well written as always per Ms. Green though it didn't make me rush to finish like the others. Still a fan of the writer and narrators.

It's rare for me to give a book all five stars but this one was definitely worth it. Not only because two of my favorite narrators were bringing it to life, but because the storyline was so relatable for me personally, and the book all around was well written. I've been in a situation similar to this so it intrigued me and drew me in from the start. I have added Ms. Jones to my list of authors to seek out, and if she continues to use Jakobi and Wesleigh, I'll surely be listening to every word she writes.
